Tea does not make you lose weight.

If tea could make me lose weight, I’d be a super model years ago.

Use tea to replace other drink calories (soda/coffee) or dessert, provided you aren’t adding sugar/cream to your tea. Most benefit tea will give you is a caffeine boost for exercise.

Oolong tea is purported to help with weight loss but research shows it burns at most a mere 3% additional calories a day – or paltry 67 calories assuming your total daily caloric intake is about 2200 calories. And this would require you to drink at least 4 cups of tea per day.

Not worth it IMO. You could take a walk around the block and achieve the same results. Drink tea for its taste, not weight loss.

there are studies of green tea helping.i think 4cups a day. but it cannot be seen for quite a while if there is a habit of overeating.

with matcha, you will get more antioxidants found in green tea. and yes oolong is also known for weight loss. puerh has probiotics and is also supposed to be best but that is from stuff ive read. im actually trying to gain weight :)

I also agree that tea couldn’t possibly help someone lose weight or else I’d be thin. I’m not heavy / fat, but after two or three years of drinking an insane amount of tea I weigh exactly what I did before then, when I only drank a bit of tea.

For the sake of science I’ll add that I mostly drink oolong but also plenty of green and black, and some white and a little pu’er.

will do thanks

i think you can figure in the fact that our metabolism slows down so the insane amount of tea made up for the difference that’s why you have not lost nor gained weight :)

There are some ‘diet’ teas that are really just laxatives, if you want to go the ‘cleansing’ route, aka digestive distress. It’s probably not very healthy for you at all. I second what Awkward Soul said – it’s probably most effective if you use if as replacement for the calorie loading drinks.

will do

yep. no to senna or whatever laxative tea. it will ruin your normal GI functioning and you will become dependent. not good.

Shu pu’er! Though all teas have loosing weight property, Shu pu’er is especially prominent in such area. But it is important to drink that for a while. I used to drink shu pu’er to loose weight around my waist. I lost 6 cm in two weeks.

Is there any chance you also modified your diet, activity level, sleep level, stress level, or lifestyle in other ways? Even subconsciously those things are all more likely to have an impact than tea.

Hoestly,no… I’m a foodie. I was in a hurry to loose weight around the waist only, and it was like an experiment for me too because I didn’t believe that pu’er is so good at loosing tummy weight. But I did some massage everyday myself too. I believe that helped. Also, I was not fat and I have always had a pretty healthy lifestyle.

Puerh tea is said to have compounds in it known to shrink fat cells. Dr Oz did a special on Puerh Tea weight loss. Don’t know how accurate he is however. You can just google Dr. Oz Puerh Tea vor the youtube video.

You know Dr Oz is a bona fide quack, right?

He actually had some science behind the Puerh bit. Other people’s science though.

I forgot to mention that there are so mamy reasons why you are gaining weight. Tea works on some of them but not all. And when I was drinking pu’er to loose weight I also did simple massage on my tummy every morning and night.

I am pretty sure the only thing about tea that can help you lose weight is if you are drinking unsweetened tea in place of sugary sodas and juices, thus reducing overall daily calorie intake significantly.
