Also, your note on Jing Guan Yin Hong — I had the one from Camellia and found it soapy!

I understand why you might think that, and I believe Daylon had a similar reaction. I enjoyed all the aromatics, even though they were sometimes overwhelming. However, I gravitate toward floral teas, which this definitely is.

Ahh, fair enough. It was interesting to try, if nothing else! I do love a nice lavender tea in terms of floral.

I like lavender teas as well, though I don’t have many of them. It’s not a flavour you find very often in high mountain oolongs.

True enough! I’m just learning more about oolongs as of late – it’s been a fun adventure.

Oolongs are great, but they’ll do a number on your wallet if you’re not careful. They’re almost as much of a rabbit hole as puerh! :)

Thank you for this lovely list. I have one myself (which I actually shared here). It’s helpful, because getting tea from EU is much easier for me nowadays. By the way, 1000tea is Dobrá čajovna (aka Dobra Tea). So, if you want something from them, it is easier to write me, than placing an order. I will support local Dobrá čajovna tearoom, at least.

Martin, that’s helpful information. I looked at the 1000tea website and found a few interesting things, though the prices seem a bit high. Have you tried their Korean Wooricha black tea or their Dhara White from Thailand? I also noticed that their Silver Needles come from Hunan, not Fujian, which is the traditional terroir for this tea. I wonder if this is accurate and not just a typo. Those Turkish teas are also interesting, though the package sizes are huge.

Have you tried any of the vendors in the Czech Republic?

Leafhopper,
sadly, I haven’t tried those yet. However I was thinking about Wooricha, because the tea-master said it is very unique and tasty tea. However, I haven’t bought it. Dhara White likewise. I don’t know if it is a typo, but tea room I visit has got Hunan written in their menu as well. So, probably actually it’s from Hunan. Interesting indeed!

The big Turkish package size is something what said no for me. Sadly, it seems they sell only whole package.

From Czech vendors in the list I have tried only GoodTea and well teas are pretty good as I have tried. Only dismal was black Assam which was older (I think from 2017) and that was nonwhere written. But it was cheap one. I have Georgian white from them… certainly something I need to try again in a gaiwan, but western brewing works well as well.

Martin, I was looking for those Georgian teas on the website and couldn’t find them, so it makes sense that they come from a different shop. It’ll be interesting to try the Georgian white if you have any left by the time we do our swap.

Also, selling an Assam from 2017 without disclosing the date seems dodgy to me. Maybe they’d be interested in my Darjeelings from 2015. :D
