7 Tasting Notes

In the midst of the corona scare, I found myself working from home–which ultimately means shopping from home. Instead of giving into temptation and buying clothes in the panic-fueled sales, I decided to purchase something more practical: tea. So after ordering a few of my favorites from DavidsTea (including Cold 911 and Forever Nuts), I decided to branch out and try matcha at home. I’ve had matcha before from several other coffee shops, but have always been slightly intimidated when it came down to making it at home. However, this drink is a quick, yummy treat for work from home days. It’s light maple flavor is delicious and complementary to a splash of oat milk. I simply added a few generous heaps of the matcha powder to hot water, whisked with a fork, and added a splash of oat milk. It was delicious and easy.

This tea is comforting, pleasant, and an overall safe flavor profile. I tend to enjoy it at night with a book, when I am feeling sick, or as an after-dinner treat to fight off the sweet tooth.

It tastes exactly as you would imagine–slightly tart, slightly sweet, light, and fruity. It is very smooth. In my personal opinion, this tea is best taken with a spoonful of honey and made into a big mug. I only have one box and it came to me from my mother. I was meant to take it last Christmas break and forgot it by mistake, only to receive it when I visited my mother a few months later. So glad it finally made it’s way into my collection!

Really pleasant tea overall. Had tried this in a sample packet davids tea had sent with another one of my purchases, but I found it too weak. I put about 2 tablespoons worth in 16 oz and let it steep for about 8 mins, and this time it was much better. I completely expected the coloring to be much darker and it wasnt, which disappointed me. I don’t know why but I’m big into tea aesthetic, lol. Overall really nice tea, and I’m digging the no caffeine aspect.

Nice tea, may have steeped too long as it was a tad bitter on the end of the sip, but I was multitasking and cooking dinner, haha. Not overly sweet, but enough that I was able to drink it black. I typically lean towards sweeter teas, or herbal caffeine free teas, but this was a nice change. Just enough caffeine that as a law student I can drink a cup at night and power through my reading without being up for hours on end. Didn’t taste a lot of pumpkin, but I only had one cup, so may be different if I get a different combo of leaves. Overall, really pleasant, low caffeine option that I will be adding to my collection. Not something I would choose to drink everyday, but great, nonetheless.

At first, I found this tea to be too lightly flavored for me. I decided to add more to my steeping (about 3 tsp to 10oz) and found the flavor excellent. Makes this a little bit more expensive per cup, but worth it for a different taste here and there. I can appreciate that the flavor isn’t OVERLY peachy, but I would like to find another tea that is strictly peach flavor and less floral to add to my collection. Since my adjusted measurements, I have kept this as a staple in my collection for nights when I really just need to wind down. Never steeped it cold, only warm, and I love it on frosty nights. Definitely calms my nerves, the chamomile is an excellent addition. I don’t taste the artificial flavors that others seem to taste when reviewing this.

This is one of my favorite teas! I grew up loving rhubarb pie, my mom used to make it all the time and this is a guilt-free supplement for that. Also great caffeine free option, and the perfect ‘night cap’ when you want something reminiscent of dessert. The color was absolutely gorgeous red, and the tartness of the rhubarb combined with the sweetness of the strawberry was mouthwatering, I couldn’t help but brew a second cup, which I did leave to steep a little longer than the first time, more around the 5 min mark, and tasted a bit better.. I know some people have a strong disdain for hibiscus, but I found this tea to be very pleasant no real undertone of the hibiscus flavoring. Overall, really enjoyed this tea and drink it a few nights a week. No sweetener needed!
