Pulled this matcha sampler for my breakfast smoothie for tomorrow. Whisked it in vanilla oat milk, and the aroma definitely nails a green caramel apple!

Mmm, I like this one, but green apple is one of my favorite flavor profiles, and I don’t seem to find it enough. I’m definitely tasting crisp, green apple, with a bit of a sweeter caramel note that follows, which I think has been brought out more by my choice of using a sweet vanilla flavored milk. Maybe not the most distinct caramel note I’ve tasted, but I can tell it is there. And I do taste the matcha this time around! The green apple is still the most dominant flavor, but there is that grassy/vegetal/umami matcha note beneath it, and the two actually compliment each other very well.

Put the matcha latte into a smoothie in the morning, with a few cubes of pumpkin and a few frozen bits of green apple and sweet potato. The pumpkin is present, but the green apple note is still very strong in the mixed smoothie (I usually don’t “taste” the apple in my pumpkin/apple/sweet potato mix, just the pumpkin). I did use the whole sampler tin of matcha from B&B which has probably helped oomph up the flavor.

Matcha Latte Sipdown (323)

This latte was a mess from start to finish. The measuring was a bit wonky because I hate measuring out of the little tins (they are cute though). Then I wasn’t sure how much milk to froth. Then I pulled out a tea cup and thought it was bigger than it was so the matcha and milk didn’t all fit. That was probably for the best since I managed to spill the milk a fair bit on the tea cabinet and on another mini matcha tin (which thankfully was sealed twice so I don’t think there was an issue). Also, the matcha was brown and for the life of me I can’t remember if that is the color it should be or if it has turned with age.

Tastewise, this is flat and diluted by probably too much milk. It is distinctly toffee apple – like those bright green apple lollipops covered in caramel but the flavor isn’t fully developed. Or perhaps it is weighed down by the milk.

Those lollipops are so good!

OMG latte disaster lol! And it looks like this has rooibos in it, so the brown color is probably normal ha ha.

Also, the mess :/, never fun!

I think my displeasure at getting my measuring spoon to properly scoop inside those tiny tins is why I just decided to dump the entirity of each tin into a smoothie each day, hahaha!

Thankfully the mess wasn’t too bad. Also, @Mastress Alita, I feel like that’s a good way to go about using the samples.

#adventageddon Day Eight – 2/5

Another matcha that I’ve really wanted to try for a long time! I’ve usually been able to talk myself out of trying it because I own a tin of the Salted Caramel matcha already and I probably don’t need two caramel/toffee matchas at the same time, but today’s cup might have changed my mind about that…

I made it up as a coconut milk latte, and it’s REALLY good! I kind of made it a bit of a fancier occasion, and I sliced up some apple which I drizzled with caramel as well as had some really nice, soft and pleasantly funky cheese! I think those elements would have made this a really special/memorable experience even if the tea wasn’t good, but the fact that it was just really blew the whole thing out of the park.

This is REALLY decadent and sweet, but also divinely delicious! I really get all the flavours of a sweet, caramel coated green apple, with just a hint of creaminess (and coconut). I feel like this actually does taste more like caramel/toffee than the Salted Caramel flavor, but maybe that’s because the contrast of sweet and just slightly tart green apple that just jumps out of the profile of the cup makes it seem all the more rich and thick. That apple note is REALLY nice too – it’s the perfect intensity and so crystal clear.

Damn it!

Yeah – I’d buy this one too!
