I’m surprised that nobody else has logged this one yet given that a whole bunch of Bulk Barn teas have been logged on here! Perhaps it’s new?

Either way, I picked it up on a whim today, partly because it smelled so delicious! A dark oolong mixed with yellow flower petals (marigold??), it smells deliciously like tropical fruit. Mmmmm. There are no coconut pieces nor mango chunks, though.

Brewed, this smells tropical and fruity. I think it was more fragrant when it was warmer; it’s rather cool now.

This tastes surprisingly delicious! The central flavour is a tropical fruitiness, followed by a coconutty creaminess, and then, yes, a lovely oolong flavour! Love when fruity teas containing actual tea actually feature its flavour!

I need to get over the fact that this is a tea from Bulk Barn, and consider keeping it as part of my permanent collection. Yes… it’s that good! I’m very shocked/surprised. If you haven’t tried this one and have a Bulk Barn nearby (and like fruity oolongs, of course), I strongly recommend you pick some up. I honestly didn’t pay attention to the price, but I got maybe 3-4 cups worth for $0.41? Sounds like a bargain to me!

ETA: Second infusion (94C/4min) is pretty much a weaker version of the first. Not as impressive, but still good. Lacking enough oolongy flavour to make me happy though; perhaps it could have used an additional minute or so.

I’ve tried a few of their teas, not bad for BB eh!?
but this was not there last time I stopped in. Looks like I’ll be making my rounds sooner than I thought :P

Kittenna

I am very pleasantly surprised with this one, yes! I fear the coming of 10% student discount Wednesday and my self-control… :/

Indigobloom

Ahh discounts. Dangerous beasts!

Azzrian

What a steal! Wish we had one here!

Kittenna

They’re fabulous :D

nomadinjeopardy

That sounds so good! The Bulk Barn prices are amazing, and the teas are surprisingly good too.

Plunkybug

This one was there when I got my two little baggies today, but I opted to just stick to what I had, and maybe try it another day.

This is another sample from Krystaleyn. Thanks again! It is my last sample from her, sad face.

Another very interesting tea. I know it says mango but really it feels more like peach to me. I get a hint of coconut right after the oolong. The oolong is sweet and again reminds me of rocks. Maybe my tasters are off today. I’d say it’s earthy but I find no vegetal or moist hints in it. Yay, more oolong! Thanks again.

I cannot believe how quickly you two blasted through these samples! I definitely have tons of yours left to go. Pitfalls of having too much tea around, I think? (I just looked and I think the only review I didn’t see was of a teabag I sent – or did I not end up sending one because I was over the weight limit?? I don’t remember!)

Kittenna

Also yes, not all oolongs have the vegetal flavour, and this would be one that doesn’t. I did get a lovely oolong aftertaste with this one though, if I recall correctly.

Missy

You are right there is a tea bag! That’s part of the beauty of sharing cups. I can brew 2 teas at one time. Score! What’s an oolong aftertaste?

Kittenna

Ummmm, I can’t describe it except as an oolong aftertaste XD

I find that oolongs, whites, greens all have a similar lingering aftertaste. It may in fact be the same one, but based on the tea I’m drinking I associate it as the aftertaste of a specific tea. It’s just…. good. And lingers. Like, really lingers, often.

Missy

I’ve had a few after tastes but I generally move on to another tea pretty quickly. I’ll have to let that after taste develop some time and examine it.

This was actually very fruity and tropical smelling! Very good for coming from the Bulk Barn.
1st steep: very fruity, I mostly get mango and pineapple with a little coconut, with the oolong flavour in the background.
2nd steep: 95degrees, 4minutes, same fruity taste but more oolong flavour coming out, not the best oolong base, but still alright.
There is no fruit bits in here though, just flower petals, so I found that kind of weird.
But really, at this price, it is fairly worth it…..35g for $1

This tea is great for an afternoon type tea, if you like black teas in the afternoon. Somehow, it doesn’t feel super caffeinated or feel heavy on the tannin or acidity so it feels more mellow than most black teas, which I think is true of oolong.

This has a lovely mango / coconut flavour combination and tastes as good as it smells while brewing. I tend to put this at the back of the cupboard, but I should bring it to the front more.

I haven’t had this one in ages. The dry leaf is very coconutty smelling, and when steeped a strong fruity fragrance comes out as well.

The liquor is a greenish gold and has a slightly perfumey nose in addition to the notes from the leaf. The sip is a bit earthy with a lot of vegetal notes. There’s a nice bit of coconut and lots of sweetness, and then this really intense peach that extends to an extremely long finish, with a bit of grassiness. There might be mango flavour in this, but the more I sip, the more the peachy finish coats my mouth. I really like that the grassy tang gives the peach a fresher edge, like biting into a peach with the slight tartness of the skin, vs canned peaches or peach juice.

The body is a little on the creamy side, but not too thick. Very mild hints of astringency.

Really quite nice.

Bought this on a whim last time I was at the bulk barn. I’m not quite sure how I feel about this tea. I think it’s the artificial tropical taste that overwhelms me when I guess I was hoping for more of a coconut flavor. I don’t think I’ll be buying this again!
