From Cloudwalker Teas

Oriental Beauty is a particularly special tea variety from Taiwan being offered at Cloudwalker. At a certain time of year, bees will nibble slightly at the tea leaves and this will cause the leaf to transform slightly into the classic oriental beauty. This tea is only from Taiwan and only from specific central Taiwanese counties. As this tea bursts forth from tea-spout to pitcher, one is immediately struck by it’s luminescence and viscosity. It is a nectarian, mouth-watering, mouth-tingling experience. It is smooth and acts quickly to engulf the palate. This oriental beauty contains superior honey qualities and an added buoyant ‘hui gan’ or returning sweetness on the throat. Ambrosial. This tea comes by its name honourably, and to purchase it you can be sure you will more completely understand its name.

The American Tea Masters Association held Tea Extravaganza 2009 at the Drake Hotel in San Diego, CA and named this one of the top 5 teas (of 14 top shelf teas) on the menu!

Sublime! Amazing!

I love this tea! It has the most beautiful honey-like tone to it. So sweet and delicious.

I just got done writing a full review of it and it will publish soon on the SororiTEA Sisters blog: http://sororiteasisters.com

WOW! A 100??? I should try mine tomorrow!!! :P

I have a very special place in my heart when it comes to Formosa Oolongs – and this one is quite possibly the best Formosa Oolong I’ve tried.

This tea could easily fool me into thinking it was flavoured. When I opened the pouch I was hit with the aromas of berries and dried fruit. The tea itself is practically bursting with flavour, with a juicy peach or apricot flavour standing out most prominently but there’s also a bit of a wine-like undercurrent. So good!

This is one of the most flavorful Formosa’s I have ever tried! It’s very nectar-like! It’s very buttery-smooth. It doesn’t taste like ‘butter’ per say but it has that sort of feel to it…

This is very nice! VERY nice!

This is a very uniquely flavoured tea from the first through fifth steeping. The aroma is reminiscent of honeycomb with a hint of citrus and the flavour is deep, with that same hint of citrus on the sides of tongue. Energy is also very strong.

Never tried Oriental Beauty before, but it’s impressed me from the first sip. It’s so sweet, the honey flavour really weighs down in my mouth like real honey. And then I notice the nice floral notes, and familiar oolong body.

If I had to compare this to anything else, it would be single malt scotch. No seriously, it’s very heavy, rich, and complex on the palate. The general flavour can’t compare, but the feeling I get while drinking it is very similar (minus the harsh feeling of alcohol going down).

Right now I’m going to echo the sentiments of some others who have tasted this tea, including the seller: “luminescence and viscosity”, “acts quickly to engulf the palate”, “buttery-smooth”, “sumptuous”. These are all very true.

This is probably the richest Bai Hao I’ve tasted with prevalent notes of honey, vanilla, creme and almond. There are faint elements of hay and persimmon and the hui gan gives this a sticky quality that I like.

This tea is simply sumptuous! There are real floral notes to it which creates a nice mellow jazz induced party in the mouth. A great summer tea!
