Throat Rescue

Sipdown. This one’s so old that I actually bought it in-store as part of a set back when DavidsTea still had stores in the U.S. I only really drink it when I have a sore throat or am sick. Mostly it just tastes like licorice root – at this point that’s all it tastes like, but I don’t remember it ever tasting like more. It does still have a bit of a demulcent effect, which is really all I need from it. And this counts as a tea bought “in-store” for ashmanra’s sipdown challenge.

I’m drinking this tonight not for a sore throat but for an unsettled stomach. Most of the herbs in this blend are said to work well for digestion and/or stomach issues – in fact, from what I can tell, every herb aside from the nettle leaves has some sort of benefit for the digestive tract.

The flavor isn’t great and I didn’t expect it to be since I’m not a fan of licorice root. I wish I could taste some of the other flavors, like the cardamom or the peppermint, but the licorice root is so strong it’s hard for me to pick out any of the others.

Gosh, it was really hard for me to finish this one. Not leaving a rating because hey maybe it does what it says it does, but by the end of the cup it’s just so gross.

Ohhhhhh this one I loveeeee! I live with someone who has digestion troubles so I always try to find teas that would help him. This one has great ingredients for the purpose and tastes great! I hope DT will keep it forever :D

From work today. I probably would have drank a ton of this over the last four days if I had any of it at home; I was excited to get my hands on it today though and see if it would help me with my laryngitis at all. I used the same trick I use for Cold 911 – brewed up triple strength for maximum impact. HOLY LICORICE ROOT. Like, damn that makes for a cloyingly sweet, unpleasant cup of tea. That said, it did have a very soothing quality that made me feel pretty good. So, there’s that.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Wife brought this home for me last night, as I’m fighting off a rough cold. It’s…meh. Soothing, yes, but the flavor was so odd. Like a chai tea gone wrong. I like licorice, but this was a bit much. I’ll stick to bravissimo.

This tea really surprised me. I am usually not a fan of licorice in my teas but this one is yummy.

This tea makes me angry…

DavidsTea seems to rebrand their teas a lot since David left; teas are leaving the shops quickly, and then reappeared as a different name (Nutty granola crunch = Peanut butter cup???? Am I crazy? ).

For this one, this is literally Licorice Twist. Taste the same (way too much licorices), smell the same.
