From Fortnum & Mason

Fortnum’s has stocked this green tea continuously since the eighteenth century, which says a great deal about its likeability. The tightly rolled leaves first resemble gunpowder pellets, which uncurl when brewed to give an unexpectedly peaceful and delicate tea. Excellent served without milk after dinner, either hot or iced.

I seem to recall I drank this last time I was writing a hopeless paper of misery and procrastination. I’m a creature of habit, unfortunately.

I’ve watched Buffy season 1-6, but never finished season 7. I want to do that. Right. Now. I want to finish the last six books of Wheel of Time. I want to know how A Storm of Ice and Fire ends. I don’t actually know my green teas very well. I have too many regrets and unfulfilled goals to die by paper tonight!

I hope you survived! :)

Thanks! It was a close thing when the lawnmower guy decided to start his thing outside my window an hour after my attempted nap, but I somehow managed! :)

A delicious, slightly bitter green tea. Best when steeped to strength – creates a nice amber color in the cup and the bite is a nice touch after a meal.

Adventageddon Day 20 – Tea 1/4

Oof, I hate Gunpowder green tea, and this one was an especially coarse and unpleasantly mulchy tasting cup. It was my first tea of the day which was kind of unfortunate, but at least I was able to get it out of the way quickly and move onto something nicer.

I feel the same about Gunpowder Green… to me it tastes too much like how cigarettes smell, which is a very unpleasant association for me and gives me migraines. I normally can only handle it in a strong blend like Moroccan Mint where the mint hides the ashtray taste.

Fortnum & Mason Advent Day 20 (sachets)

I was not sure I wanted a green tea with toast and jam today but I went with it because the tins advent is also a green today. It was not a disappointment at all. They suggest resteep ing this one and I did. It had good strength and was very nice with food, not as smoky as some gunpowder green I have tried and pretty smooth and easy drinking. Enough Heft to enjoy with food, even a sweet jelly.

Oddly – my finger has been hurting since last night. I have Heberden’s nodes and they hurt when they are forming and a new one in forming on my right index finger. I even mentioned it before and winced this morning. After having my tea, I could barely feel it. Is green tea THAT anti-inflammatory? Or was it just time for it to get better?

Crowkettle

I have good memories of this gunpowder green! Something about it is soothing and never failed to make me feel better – maybe tied into the anti-inflammatory properties?

I really enjoyed it this morning, in spite of my initial feeling that I really wished I was having a black tea for breakfast! I should probably put this on my list for the next Fortnum order as there are a few things there I want to try. (The chilli and tomato spread was delicious.)

Advent Day 17

This cup was fairly smooth when hot, but then I ran off to chase down a food dehydrator on Craigslist and when I got back this cup was (of course) cold. But it’s still enjoyable cold! It smells very sweet and buttery. The sip is buttery with a slight grassy tang on the finish. It’s good, just not my preferred type of tea being unflavored green.
