From Lupicia

RIPE MANGO OOLONG is a refreshing high-quality Taiwanese oolong tea scented with sweet, ripe mangoes. The exquisite aroma of juicy mangoes enhances the flavor of the Taiwanese pouchong. Great as hot tea enjoyed over several steeps or as iced tea which emphasizes the exotic mango flavor.

Ingredients: Oolong tea, dried mango (mango, sugar, citric acid), orange flower, flavourings

Country of Origin: Taiwan

Instructions: 2.5-3g tea leaves per 150ml boiling water, steeped 1.5-2 minutes. Infusion: 1-2 cups

Huge, full, twisted leaves of Taiwanese green oolong with just the right amount of succulent mango flavor. Soft, creamy mouthfeel and chewy texture that stands up to multiple brews (the mango flavor starts to fade after a couple brews, but you’re left with a pretty tasty pouchong after that.)

I got the teabag version of this tea. It has a good fruity scent and a nice orange green liquid. This tea has a mild fruity floral flavor. I like the way the tea looks inside the teabag. It looks like they put real tea and not the dust stuff I see in some teabag teas.

I was hugely disappointed with this tea. I love mangos, and this tea smells amazingly like the ones I used to get at my grandma’s house. But something about it tastes off to me. There’s an odd chemical tinge that reminds me I had this same experience with their Takibi, but the chemical edge is harsher here, and harder to ignore.

The tea still smells good when brewed up, if a bit subdued, but the flavoring can’t compete at all with that chemical taste. I did try letting this tea sit to let the flavors settle, but it was still unpleasant.

And I just realized this was my 100 tasting note! Hard to believe I’ve tried that many teas. How did that happen?

Tastes good. Smells better. Would make great potpourri if it weren’t so expensive and difficult to get in this country. Very pleasant to drink.

Lupicia’s Ripe Mango Oolong tea is, to my tastes, outstanding! Prepared as directed, Western style: 2.5g leaf in 8 oz boiling spring water for 2 min. Two serial infusions, combined to make a pint of heaven. Unsweetened, it tastes of real ripe mango with a floral nose, and a subtle green oolong background giving just enough bite and flavor to reassure you that it’s genuine tea—full-flavored yet light, and quite refreshing. If that wasn’t enough, the leaf unfurled to give medium sized intact green leaves with few noticeable stems. The finish is long lasting in both flavor and aroma, coating the tongue & throat, and filling the sinuses with fruity-floral happiness. But wait— there’s more! add a couple spoonfuls of sugar and the senses become supercharged with sweet fruit and a mouthwatering finish! Interestingly, I enjoyed this more while hot/warm than iced, but it works well as a sweet iced tea too. Yes, the mango flavor dominates, but this is named Ripe Mango and not fruit salad or mixed bouquet! The oolong and orange blossom give it a touch of complexity without muddling the profile, and that’s good enough for me to recommend this tea and rate it a 94.

Yaaaay! I like this one a lot, too. I have a pouch sitting somewhat neglected as I have been focused on sipdowns of older teas or nearly gone teas, but I need it out while it is still hot and muggy weather to enjoy it! I don’t think I have tried it iced. Maybe that will be next up…

A very nice, tightly furled oolong with an authentic mango note. The dried mango is sweetened with sugar, which isn’t my preference but it’s not overly sweet. I got 3-4 steeps out of one tea bag. A nice choice for a fruity oolong that gives you a lot of value, if you don’t mind drinking several cups at a go.

It’s still warm enough that I’m drinking iced tea in the afternoon, and I’ve been enjoying this one cold brewed. I typically don’t find the flavor overwhelming in Lupicia blends, but the mango really pops in this particular tea… it really does have a very fresh and juicy note that tastes great as an ice-cold tea. The oolong base adds a very complementary “green” note and a touch of florality and mineral water. Extremely thirst-quenching!

This tea was provided to me as a sampler by a friend. I personally rarely ever drink blends and usually prefer single-origin tea but I am always open to trying new things! This tea is called Ripe Mango Oolong and had some dried mango pieces in the oolong tea. After researching it, I found out that they used pouchong/baozhong oolong as the base.

Baozhong has a very mild flavor, similar to a green, light oolong. This is probably why I could barely taste the oolong in it! This tea smells like bubblegum and mango and once brewed, it has a light flavor with hints of mango, berries, and sweet apples. It is pretty pleasant and soothing.

My initial impression upon opening the bag was that this tea smells like mango Hi-Chews. It’s one of THOSE teas that you can’t help but to just keep sniffing. Once brewed the flavor is a cross between mango candy and mango fruit. The pouchong is the perfect base tea providing butteriness and creaminess. You also get just the right amount of floral-ness that mimics an actual fresh ripe mango. I had pretty high expectations when I bought this tea and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend it! My only regret is that I wish I had opened it sooner.

I have sampled teas that I wished I could use as potpourri! Your scent description made me breathe a little deeper hoping I could catch a whiff.

A sample sachet was included in the most recent Lupicia order and since I am trying to clear the cupboard, this was an easy target. I didn’t know it was going to make me immediately want to place another Lupicia order. Oof.

Breakfast on a way too hot June morning. English muffin and this tea.

First steep smells heavenly, with powerful mango aroma but even as powerful as it is, I smell the oolong. How can I smell the oolong so well with this mango dialed up to volume ten? I make a second steep immediately in my Kamjove and combine the two. This is so so fruity and delicious and yes, the mango is wild and forward but the oolong is so distinctly there. I must have a third steep, even though I don’t expect it to go well, even though I never do three with Lupicia flavored tea.

And…the mango is much lighter but the oolong base still is strong enough to enjoy. Its a good third steep and well worth it. I was drinking it hot and now I absolutely must taste it cold. It is already a hot sticky summer and it has just begun, so bring on the ice cold tea in glasses beaded with condensation.

Well, great, here we go again.

Oh my… A lot of them are seasonal so they won’t be available now, but from their permanent lineup I love Melon Oolong, Momo Vert, Tsugaru Green, Grapefruit Green, Sakurambo, Caramel & Rum, Earl Grey Grand Classic, Alphonso Mango, Fraisier, and Matcha Soybean Rice Tea. Oh and Framboise Chocolate is nice too. Sorry, there are too many heh! I love Momijigari, but it’s only available in the fall…

I’m a big fan of Kotobuki!

Okay, I have Melon Oolong, Momo Vert, Fraisier, and Matcha Black Soybean Rice Tea. I have had Tsugaru before, that was a good one, i have Yume and Merci Milles Fois right now. Caramel and Rum and Framboise Chocolate sound good! I will look up Kotobuki!

ashmanra

Cameron B: I don’t like rooibos but I had a Lupicia rooibos that was beautifully flavored and you didn’t taste the rooibos at all. Can you taste it in the Caramel and Rum?
