“I went to the foot doctor today and this was my treat to myself for being a good patient! There is a Peet’s nearby. I wasn’t expecting much but this was really good, esp. for a 2nd flush...” Read full tasting note

Description

Our finest blend of “second flush” Darjeelings. Full-flavored with a muscatel aroma and a lingering finish.

This is our finest second flush Darjeeling tea selected from the hundreds of samples offered at the Calcutta auctions. The competition for the handful of top quality lots can be intense, and prices follow quality. We buy our tea from the auction through an exporter with whom we’ve worked for many years. He sends us samples from each upcoming auction and we give him bids on the lots we prefer. Darjeeling Extra Fancy Kalimpong has the classic muscat grape character, with complex floral notes and a lively, brisk astringency. “Kalimpong” is not an estate name, but a town on the Eastern edge of the Darjeeling tea area that at one time was a stop on the ancient trade route between India and Tibet.
