Sipdown! (24 | 221)

This is an interesting one. Grapefruit and chocolate seems like such an unusual combination, though I guess it shouldn’t since chocolate-orange is quite common.

In this tea, I get the citrus note more at the beginning of the sip, and then the second half is all chocolate. It’s definitely the milk variety, quite light and creamy. The two make an interesting pair, but stay mostly separate.

Definitely an interesting one to try. I don’t tend to love chocolate teas, so I probably wouldn’t order this because of that. But seems like a nice representation of that flavor profile.

I can see why! If I enjoyed chocolate teas more, I think I would love it as well.

I absolutely love chocolate and orange together—my mother-in-law and I share a propensity to snarf boxfuls of those chocolate-orange jelly sticks without realizing how much we’ve just decimated.

However, the notion of chocolate and grapefruit never crossed my mind until we saw and sniffed this blend at the savoy shop. Straight off the steep, the grapefruit hits you first; however, after it cools, you realize there’s a really fine chocolate base underneath. The problem is leaving enough in the cup to allow some to cool. Good stuff.

I tossed in a few bulk cocoa nibs and second steep was perfectly acceptable as well.
