I made this as coldbrew when my friend Todd was visiting, and we took it along on a picnic in the Sawtooth Forest to see a hummingbird feeder site. This is a really lovely root beer tea! The flavoring is spot on and the green rooibos base doesn’t really impede the flavoring in any way, while coldbrewing like a champ. I think part of what really sells it is the tea is very sweet, really adding to that feel of drinking pop without adding any additional sweeteners. This is achieved by a high level of licorice root, however, which can be a contentious ingredient for a lot of tea drinkers, so if you are sensitive to it, this probably isn’t the tea for you. To me, the “sticky” sweetness left in my mouth just really sells the mouthfeel of actual root beer in a way the flavoring alone couldn’t.

I’m on my last liter, and I added CO2 to this one, and I really can’t tell the difference from a canned root beer. This will definitely be missed!

Cold Brew Sipdown (2938)!

Another sipdown that is a little bit sad because I do really adore this blend. I find the root beer flavour really, really crystal clear with a surprisingly crisp and clean sweet finish. Though I can still distinctly tasting the mineral and woodier notes of the rooibos or the lick of sweetness in the back of my throat from the licorice root, there’s still something quite refreshingly balanced about the taste while note ignoring the distinct characteristics of the ingredients that make up that sum.

That said, I own a lot of root beer teas so it feels a little silly to not finish a few of them off. I mean, how many root beer blends does one person reasonably need. It’s certainly less than like five to eight, right? Right!?

Well… there are 52 weeks in a year. Seems reasonable to me!

This tea smells absolutely amazing, exactly like root beer. The flavor is authentic too. The spearmint is so clear and delicious, and there’s almost a feeling of carbonation. I never really drank root beer, but I’m loving this tea version! It’s so refreshing – I grabbed the last servings from the tea box, and I’ll have to track down some more! It isn’t quite perfect – I feel like maybe some added vanilla or something could really make it great, but it’s quite good.

I don’t know that I have any experience with root beer teas AJRimmer and Mastress Alita but for very rare times I drink soda I do like root beer, so this must be something I didn’t realized existed in tea form and must now investigate! :D

AJRimmer

Simpson & Vail has root beer rooibos that I’m definitely trying on my next order!
