Im not going to lie. I drink this every morning with breakfast, with white sugar until it’s sticky sweet. This tea is just to DIE for and Im going to cry when I have to wait to get more in the mail. REALLY dark robust black tea with just enough of a kick in the pants to make me want to put ON pants in the morning. This is definitely my go to.

Another tea from the box that my grandmother sent me.

This one is immensely better than the raspberry, but still not something I’d buy on my own. I don’t really do teabags in the first place, but that’s not really the point.

When I opened the box the smell of spice is the primary aroma- not specifically cinnamon, but spice. The same is true once the tea is brewed, although you can smell a hint of citrus as well.

Unlike the blackberry spice variety from Gevalia that I tried before, this one is less artificial in taste. The flavoring is actually quite subtle- a hint of orange with the cinnamon coming through ever so lightly. Not bad.

Like I said, I don’t ever buy bagged teas like this unless I’m completely out of anything else (god forbid, but the postal service does have a tendency to be slow about things!) but this wasn’t all that horrible. It had quite a warming effect and I actually finished the cup which was a surprise in itself!

All in all it was okay I suppose.

Ugh, I said raspberry up at the top when referring to the previous Gevalia flavor I tried, but I meant blackberry as I wrote later on in the post. That’s what I get for waiting until I’m eating yogurt with raspberries in it to write my notes :P

Well, we all do stuff like that!

I’m terrible about it- especially if someone’s talking to me while I’m typing/writing. I always end up writing what they’re saying! Once I was doing Trig homework and English homework at the same time in high school and I wrote a math equation into my English paper! Thank goodness I had someone proof read it!

My grandmother saw on Facebook that I’d recently purchased a decent tea kettle, and took it upon herself to send me a box of different kinds of tea that she likes. So, you will see me reviewing some teas that I otherwise would not have purchased on my own. She’s a big fan of flavored tea bags, so that’s of course what I received.

This tea smelled rather medicinal when I pulled out my tea bag & the medicinal smell continued through the steeping process. The tea produced was a dark chocolatey color, quite pretty really, but the resulting flavors were not nearly as lovely. Without sweetening the tea retained the medicinal quality that the aroma had, though with a little honey it was better. You do get a slight spiciness in the aroma, which gave me some hope that the tea wouldn’t be all that bad.

I’ve found that most berry teas I’ve had (raspberry/blackberry, I’ve yet to try any strawberry teas) tend to taste artificial and this was no exception. With some milk added in, you notice less of the artificial flavor notes and more of the spice flavors which made it better. Not great, but not bad. I love blackberries, but I really don’t get much of a blackberry flavor from this which was kind of disappointing. The spice is what salvaged this tea and earned it a better rating.

While I won’t be purchasing any more of this tea for myself, I won’t be tossing it out either. If I ever find myself out of my regular teas, I suppose I’ll be pulling this one out of the back of the cabinet

drank Ancient Cherry by Gevalia

There are several different departments in my building. Operations is one of them. They all know I drink tea (their coffee machine is next to the sink where I get water), and like to poke fun. But they’re great guys, and one of them found tea at a garage sale, and brought me a box. I’d never heard of Gevalia tea or coffee, and was very excited to try this.

I’m not getting any cherry, or even any fruit taste, out of this green tea. It actually reminds me of Lapsang Souchong. It’s smoky and rich, but is light and still tastes like a good green tea. Yummy!

drank Lemon Berry Breeze by Gevalia

“Ingredients: Hibiscus flowers, licorice root, natural flavor, soy lecithin. Contains: Soy.” “Product of Indonesia.”

I bought this tea mail-order from Gevalia. It’s a strange-tasting, artificial tea. Imagine strong hibiscus tea blended with a weird, candy-like berry flavor. It’s quite sour. It’s not a relaxing drink. I can’t recommend it.

I’ve been buying this from Gevalia for years! It’s cheaper then their coffees… It’s probably more accurate to call it a tisane since it doesn’t actually have tea in it – but peppermint tea, ginger root, and panax ginseng root as well as “natural flavor” (presumbably the “honey” for which it is named, and soy lecithin (beats me why!). But it is soothing as an after dinner drink before bed, yet somehow seems to also give me some zippy in the morning too (probably because of the tea’s effect on digestive issues even though it’s not sold as being a “health” tea, as such.).

As for preparation details, I’ve no idea how hot it is. Hardly matters because I won’t drink scalding hot beverages – I immediately cool them down to a more reasonable warm temp, using cream or milk or something! Same for steeping – I put it in with the water in the microwave and it can cook for 1 min 25 seconds before bubbling over. Or if I do it with the teakettle boiling on the stove, I probably steep it 2 or 3 minutes…not too much or it gets bitter like most teas do…just till it’s the “right shade”.

A great fruity black tea that’s not too sweet, nor too tart. The blackberry is rich and the tea goes well with milk.
