drank Gooseberry Black Tea by Simpson & Vail

Thank you Indigobloom This one comes across as that random “berry” flavour that some teas have, though it’s leaning towards almost being gooseberry. There’s a bitterness at the back end of this that reminds me of rind. I’m trying this cold brewed as well over the weekend since I’m thinking that might be the way to do this one. Not a bad tea, but i think i prefer S&V’s baked good teas :)

Kittenna

I just brewed up the sample of Strawberry Cupcake from momo. Hopefully it’s tasty! There’s tons, haha.

Sil

shaaaaaare! lol

Indigobloom

cupcake?? oh yum!
Agreed about the rindy note

Kittenna

Sil – it was for both of us!! Of course you’re getting some, haha. Approximately half, assuming I like it :P Indigobloom, if you’d like some as well, mention it in our thread.

Thank you hesper june! I’ve been wanting to try something from whispering pines company for a while now and she was happy to oblige me. A first scent of this one, I’m not really sure what to expect. There’s a really strong spice smell, not just cloves but cloves and….something. I think I was expecting something with a bit of smoke to it, which I don’t smell.

After brewing this one, I’m left with what I’d call a kind of boring cup of tea. Th strong spice smell that was present in the aroma is muted. I can’t taste any of the orange and the tea blend almost has too much going on for The tea to decide what it wants to be. It’s not a bad cup of tea, but its not wonderful either. Ill be looking to try a few more from this company though as its possible that this sample had too much of the spices and not enough tea.

Thanks again to the lovely Hesper June for sharing with me :)

drank G&W Grapefruit Supreme by Distinctly Tea

New tea that i picked up at the tea festival today. Not a bad grapefruit tea if you prefer a green and white blend to Butiki’s Dragonwell. I’ll stick with Stacy’s version but I’m going to cold brew it to see how different that it. It’s probably the second best grapefruit tea that i’ve tried but it’s slightly artificial.

Indigobloom

Hmph, too bad! I’m curious about the pear one.

Sil

not TOO bad… i like supporting stacy haha. I’ll likely try the pear and the mango one tomorrow.

Indigobloom

of course!! still good to have options :)

Having some of this in an effort to try and manage some sipdowns. I’m pretty sure that this particular tea just sin’t up my alley. I’t snot a BAD tea…just nothing about it really says to me DRINK ME! I have a small bit left that I’ll likely pass off to someone who can appreciate this more. Did get a few steeps out of it though and I’m happy i had this to try.

drank Premium Chai by Butiki Teas

SIPDOWN! and something i would likely restock in the future once i sipdown a bit more of my other chai teas. Brought this one with my to the tea festival today as i didn’t want to carry around multiple mugs. I’m sad to see this one finished but I have really enjoyed every cup of it that i’ve had.

Indigobloom

There will always be more chai :P

drank Cinnamon Roll Honeybush by 52teas

Last tea of the evening before I tuck myself in to watch a show before bed. It’s been a super long week so this is a good note to end on. I still really enjoy this cinnamon tea, since it does really remind me of a delicious cinnamon bun. however, i think i prefer the strawberry pie as a staple for a non caffeine tea. I like the cinnamon/strawberry balance in that other tea better as a staple. I still enjoy this one though, don’t get me wrong. :)

SIPDOWN! I’m pretty sure this was contaminated when my sample packs decided to explode. It tastes vanilla-y with a whole lot of floral taste. I feel like this is probably a pretty good cup of tea but i’ll have to adjust accordingly once i get a sample that’s not totally contaminated.

drank Blueberry Purple Tea by Butiki Teas

Edit: SIPDOWN! lol since the rest is going to kittenna haha

YAY for organizing my tea cupboard this weekend. I’ve managed to pull out all the tea that’s nearly at the end of their package so that I can focus on drinking those over the next two weeks as well as trying out a few of the teas in my cupboard that i haven’t yet tried.

This tea falls into the first category – there’s only about enough for another cup of this (well one of MY cups…so that’s like 2). So I had some tonight to get that down a bit more. I’ll likely reorder this at a later date from Stacy as it’s a pretty enjoyable blueberry tea and it has decent re-steeps as well which is always nice.

Kittenna

I should have stolen some of this one, too! I received a sample from Stacy at one point but it was terrible, I think it must have gotten a bit mashed up at some point, and perhaps I steeped it incorrectly. Boo-urns.

Sil

I can set aside the last little bit of it for you it you like.

Kittenna

If you don’t mind, I would love that! I’ll have to make sure you know what’s all in my cupboard so you can pick and choose things you are interested in too! :P

drank The Killer’s Vanilla by Butiki Teas

Sipdown!

Thanks to the lovely kittenna for a sample of this one. I was pretty sure this wouldn’t be my favourite as I’m starting to realise i’m not overly a fan of guayusa. I don’t hate it but it’s just not a base i can REALLY get behind. When i steep this one, I actually taste more mint than anything while the after sip is where the vanilla is hiding. However, in between the two is the weird earthy/grassiness of the tea that makes my face scrunch up a little.

If you like this tea base and enjoy vanilla, this is likely a great tea for you. The lavender is just a hint in the tea, so floral haters need not fear (i despise floral teas). I really appreciate the chance to give this one a whirl! Thanks Kittenna

drank Caramelicious by Caraway Tea Company
15737 tasting notes

Sipdown! Thanks to Kittenna for a share of this tea. I may have brewed this a little funny but it’s not really caramel tasting to me. Well it’s like burnt caramel. This is more what i think of when i think of creme brulee. Not to say that this is creme brulee tea but it’s got more of that initial taste like the burnt topping on cremem brulee. There’s an aftertaste though that makes me unsure oh how i feel about this tea. Maybe with a bit of milk it’d make this a creamier tea.

Bio

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling as well!

Most of that is on hold these days though, including tea drinking like I used to as I have a new little one who eats up all my spare time.
