Happy Matcha Monday!

As soon as I opened the pouch, the peach scent was so mouthwatering… Perhaps a touch candy-ish, but also with some authentic peach there as well.

Prepared this hot and plain, with a teaspoon of matcha for 8 ounces of water. I really enjoyed it! The peach tastes very authentic to me, juicy but not super overripe but with a nice tinge of tartness to it. It wasn’t an overwhelming amount of peach either, I could still taste the matcha perfectly.

The matcha base they use for these flavored blends is very fresh-tasting, with a bright grassiness and soft umami notes. It’s not super creamy or rich because it’s not a ceremonial grade matcha. But I really love the lighter, brighter taste with these fruit flavors. And there’s barely a hint of bitterness!

I can’t wait to try this one iced or as an iced latte for a nice peaches ‘n’ cream vibe…

Upon opening this sample packet of Peach Matcha from 3 Leaf Tea I was smacked in the face with intense peach aroma. I LOVED the scent of this Peach Matcha! It made me wonder if it was going to be ALL Peach and NO Matcha when it came to flavor. Let me tell you that was NOT the case. Once I whisked my hot matcha up in my cup I took my first sip and what I found was MAJOR defined and STRONG green matcha flavor with an underlying peach flavor! This strong matcha base is not for wimps! It’s of the stronger matchas I have sipped on that is for sure!

So, flavored matcha. Besides the green tea Frappe addiction and my own vanilla or caramel syrup creations, I haven’t had any experience. You have to start somewhere, right? Turns out I didn’t need to be apprehensive. This matcha base is from Japan. It is bright spring green. Using my new milk frother (that I am now totally sold on) this mixed super easy and created a super foamy drink. I used Splenda instead of sugar because the monkey misses me. My first impression was this tasted somewhere between the old Stash peach I used to love and actual peach. Then I read Oolong Owl’s excellent review. Of course – peaches and cream, how did I miss that? Smooth and creamy without a hint of bitterness. Definitely a refreshing afternoon sip for me.

Mmmmm, this matcha made as a latte is like drinking peaches and cream (with matcha!) The flavoring on this one is light (lighter than the other one I tried, coconut) with a white peach flavor, mostly in the aftertaste. With light flavoring you can enjoy the matcha more.
