Tea of the Week for December 20, 2021!

This is a new version of a blend I created a few years ago – utilizing our naturally caffeine-free green rooibos for the base & combining it with lots of pumpkin, apple & pineapple as well as a little allspice. Sweet & juicy with a subtle hint of warm spice!

This blend is organic, vegan, gluten-free, caffeine-free, allergen-free & all natural!

more about this tea: Every year when fall rolls around, I start thinking PUMPKIN! I love pumpkin and I especially love pumpkin teas. I have made quite a few over the years & one of my favorites has been Pumpkin Juice green tea. Sadly, it’s not one that I’ll be duplicating any time soon as the base for that tea is one that is difficult for me to obtain & rather than trying to recreate that tea with a different green tea base, I thought I’d go with

Instead, I decided to go with a caffeine-free version of that tea – utilizing our green rooibos. The fresh, light flavor of the green rooibos should work nicely with the fruity & squash notes of the tea.

To the rooibos, I added freeze-dried pumpkin, apple & pineapple (as well as some air-dried pineapple) & some crushed & whole allspice. When I crafted the original blend, I utilized other spices as well, however, since green rooibos is a light, fresh tasting base, I didn’t want to overdo it on the spice. I wanted this blend to be refreshing & sweet – with just a subtle note of spice.

I really like how this one turned out. Pumpkin blends usually are a bit heavy – but not this. A gentler approach to pumpkin – with sweet notes of apple & pineapple for a palate pleasing contrast.

organic ingredients: green rooibos, pumpkin, apple, pineapple, allspice & natural flavors

to brew: shake the pouch well. You want to get a fair distribution of all the ingredients (including a little bit of allspice!) – so be sure to shake it before you measure it – every time you measure it! Use 3 ½ g of leaf to 12oz of very hot water (about 190°F) & steep for 10 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. enjoy!

serving suggestion: this is really good hot or iced. I like it with a little bit of sweetener in it, as it highlights the allspice a little more & I find that the fruity notes are a little stronger with the sweetener than without. Try it with a little drizzle of honey! YUM!

This was a little sweeter and fruitier than I expected. I do taste something quite pumpkin-like. The green rooibos is so smooth and lovely. I’m drinking this cold, and it’s really unique and refreshing. It’s interesting to taste pumpkin without the spice that always seems to accompany it!

(52teas (Anne) 2022: 87)

In my desperate effort to get my notes to show up by deleting/reposting, I inadvertently deleted my note on Pumpkin Juice. Urgh. I remember rambling on about how I thought this was a reblend, but realized that the original was actually a green base. And then noting that I have the original, and should compare the two one day, a day where I pay more attention, because I had literally nothing to say about this tea aside from the fact that I enjoyed it and the flavour intrigued me both on the initial sip, and when I finished the cup after it had fully cooled.

Why can’t my stupid notes just show up properly?! Urgh. (Or maybe the dashboard is actually just stuck?)

ETA: This isn’t showing up either. I give up.
