Although there’s just one ingredient in this tea, it took our family years to select the perfect Oolong from a special region in Asia. We were searching for a tea with the consistent mellow notes that would go well with almost any meal. Ours in particular is not too dark or too light; it’s just right.

STEEPING INSTRUCTIONS
1 Be sure to start with fresh cold water and bring to a rolling boil.
2 Pour over tea bag, steep for 2 to 4 minutes (refer to box or whatever time you like), remove bag (but no squeezing please!).
For Iced Tea by the Glass: Steep a little longer. Pour over ice.

Sticking with the recommended two minute steep yield, its mild and leans toward roasty-toasty rather than floral—definitely our household preference in an oolong. Pretty good stuff.
Paid closer attention to the brewing time and only brewed this for just over a couple of minutes today. I think it’s perfect, and the smell isn’t bothering me much (although I had to laugh when I saw my previous review here since that was the first thought I had again today, that I don’t care for the smell!). It’s a nice change from my few regular boring black bagged teas that I drink at work (when I’m too lazy/running late to bring a loose variety).
I really don’t know how I feel about this tea. It’s not bad, but it’s not good you know? I haven’t given up on it yet. I’m going to try a milder brew of it next time. I brewed it 2 bags in 2 cups of water the first time. What also perplexes me is that my local asian bistro serves oolong, and it comes out looking light green. This tea is a caramel color. So who is pulling the oolong switch? I really don’t know. Maybe it’s because this is “Chinese” oolong and the other is a Japanese oolong? I need to do more tea research and get back to you on this one. Suffice it to say I don’t think the taste is worth the price of the box.
It could be differences in the degree of fermentation. The definition of oolong is pretty much just ‘partially fermented’ as opposed to the full fermentation of black tea. Some oolongs are closer to green tea in nature and some are closer to black tea in nature, so that might be the difference you’re noticing.

Angrboda...you're absolutely correct in saying oolong tea is "partially fermented" or semi-fermented, which falls inbetween a black tea and a green tea.....DylanAngel2001, sorry this flavor wasn’t your cuppa tea. Even in just the Chinese oolong realm alone, oolongs cover the entire spectrum of partial oxidization. They range from just slightly oxidized to almost completely oxidized, with everything in between (dan congs). Greener oolongs call for cooler water and less steeping.
Wow I am really impressed at the quality. If I did not personally brew it from a teabag I would think somebody was puling my leg if they said that it was brewed from a teabag. The tea has a nice smooth dark roast oolong, if you enjoy dark roast TKY than you will like this tea, if nothing else as a nice travel tea when loose leaf tea is not an option.
This WAS my favorite tea until I tried loose leaf teas then went back to this and it doesn’t taste nearly as good anymore, not sure why because I didn’t originally think loose leaf tasted better. This is a dark oolong, which I liked, I thought it tasted similar to black tea but more flavorful. But not anymore which is a major bummer. Maybe I just got a bad batch.

I was completely surprised by how good this one turned out to be! I didn’t expect much, mostly because I don’t drink much oolong tea, and a bagged straight oolong didn’t sound promising (no offense, Bigelow). Guess I shouldn’t be so snobby about the bagged teas! It didn’t have a roasted flavor like I was expecting. Instead, it tasted very chocolaty. I’m sure I wouldn’t have guessed it was oolong if I didn’t see the name on the bag. I would have sworn it was a black tea. Great pick, Devon Bartholomew! I hope you and your family enjoyed your holiday tradition! :)

I’m going to feel like a jerk for making a review on this, since my coworker gifted me a full box of bags for Christmas…I’ll keep this in my work stash, for desperate moments, but it’s not my cup of tea. :P
I swear bagged teas have a flavor that I cannot place. I call it the ‘bagged tea taste.’ I guess the plus to this tea is that it reminded me of a rock oolong, but one with a bagged tea taste. Heh.
