Oh, Oh It’s Magic

This sweet, tropical fruit blend is seriously magical. Don’t believe us? Just ice yourself a cup and prepare to fall under its spell. First it enchants you with its pretty pink colour. Next it bewitches you with its irresistible aroma of ripe mango and guava. Then you take your first, utterly spellbinding sip. And before you know it…Guava Cabadra! You’ve completely fallen for its magic charms. Tart, sweet, exotic and refreshing, it’s the potion of choice for any sorcerer in the know.

Mango, apple, hibiscus blossoms, elderberries, guava crunchy, mango, rosehips.

Mmm! This is a cold brew; somewhere right around 24 hours give or take a few in either direction. And man is this a cold brew done right!

Seriously; this is so refreshing and thick and juicy tasting! It’s one of my favourite tisanes from DAVIDsTEA, and I think it’s especially good because there’s really nothing else quite like it! I don’t know of any other tea that has such a full guava flavour paired with this sort of rich mango sweetness. The two compliment each other very well.

Eventually, once I’ve cleared out some tins. I’d like to have full tins of Redberry Tonic, Pink Flamingo, Pink Passionfruit, Tropicalia, this one, and maybe Bamboozled (I already have the better Buddha Bamboo, from Tea Desire) just for cold brewing! That means I need to clear out three tins. That’s kinda doable long-term, right? I mean, I know already I wont be restocking Bravissimo and Midsummer Night’s Dream, and once I finish off White Chocolate Frost there’s nothing left to restock; so there you have it!

Jen M

If you want Bamboozled you’d better decide fast; it’s being discontinued.

Roswell Strange

Lol, you’re a little late to the game; this tasting note is 2 months old and since I’ve restocked on Bamboozled, written several more tasting notes on it, bitched about all the discontinued teas, and finished off my Bamboozled again ;)

I have no idea how much you drink in 2 months. I was just merely trying to be helpful. Sorry.

This is one of the teas I picked up during the weekend sale. I dumped all 16g into my 2 litre jug and let it cold steep overnight.

And my, did it EVER get strong overnight. The liquor was a dark melon pink. The first few glasses were way too sweet for me. I could pick out the mango but the rest was sugar, sugar, sugar. So after I got about 1/2 way through the jug, I added more water to dilute it, and then a bit more after a couple more cups.

After the third dilution, it’s much better. The liquor is a lighter melon pink and I can now taste the apples along with the mango. The hibiscus is barely noticeable. Maybe it adds a touch of needed tartness to this but it isn’t over-the-top.

Oh yeah, and I’ve actually never had guava before (haven’t been able to find it anywhere!), and don’t taste anything out of the ordinary in here, so I don’t know what to make of that. Overall, it’s decent, but there is absolutely nothing special about this tisane, and even after the dilution, it’s too sweet to the point that it dulls the true flavours of the fruits.

EDIT: Well, what do you know. When I toddled down the hill to the nearby market, I found guava! Guess I kept missing it. To me, it tastes like a combination of passionfruit and mango, so in other words, scrumptious. Those seeds are so annoying though. In any case, from what I recall, I didn’t get any guava flavour from this. The mango I was detecting was clearly from the actual mango. Oh well. Now I can say I’ve had it! And I also have a pineapple guava waiting for me too…

Guava is like strawberry-banana. SO delicious.

Wow! Here I was imaging something closer to papaya. Were you able to find fresh guava in any markets around your area?

I definitely didn’t get anything remotely close to strawberry banana in this blend.

Yeah, I first had guava when I was in BC, from a market, but I can get it here in Ontario as well. It’s very deliciously fragrant and the first time I had it, I definitely described it as strawberry banana (and then read that other people also described it as such!)

I just picked up some Guava Cadabra today, so I’ll see how it tastes to me. Didn’t smell like guava in the tin…

I’m curious to see your review now that I actually tried guava! I swear I didn’t get that flavour from it.

Sipdown!! (218)

I dumped the whole sample I bought yesterday in a water bottle and let it steep for 16 hours and is this ever sweet. I definitely get the guava and apple is also present. Mango adds yet another layer of sweetness. This is a tad too sweet for me. I even find myself looking for the hibiscus for a touch of much needed tart to dial this back a bit. Even after drinking this part way and diluting it with more water it is still just too sweet. I am glad I tried it because I was curious but this is not for me.

This tea is yum! I do like guava and its funky pear/strawberry/kiwi like flavor – and the guava flavor comes out in this tea quite nicely. Guava Cadabra is exotic, sweet and fun – a nice iced tea! The tart is low medium for hot tea, but quite low iced.

I enjoy the candy like sweetness and found it has a great sweetness iced that doesn’t need additional sweetener! However, I can see this tea being too sweet for some.

Tea smoothie time again! So good in a tea smoothie, and sweet enough to not need added sweetener.
I am trying to lose my baby weight, so I have joined weight watchers. So all, my tea friends, be ready to see lots of reviews for tea in tea smoothies.

So haven’t been drinking or reviewing tea lately. Turns out I’m going to have surgery for a very rare kind of brain tumour called an Epidermoid Cyst that is in a very problematic place pushing on my brain stem and right under the medulla oblongata. The surgeon says I have a 99% chance of not dying from the surgery and 95% chance of coming out of it perfectly.Apparently this kind of cyst is found in like 1 of 320,000 people so guess I’m special. The surgery isn’t until November late probably and it will be 5-11 hours with blood on hand in case of blood loss and a special nerve monitors so they can avoid paralysing me for life or waking up under anaesthesia. I’m very scared so I’m going to get back on the drinking tea because even though I have good chances I need to enjoy my life as pre-surgery kat…because I’m going to be a different person after the surgery if I live. I’d love to hear from people who have had serious surgery if possible. Okay drama rant over and on to what we really care about tea!

Smells like Candy and juice and red licorice?
Beautiful dark pink color and once brewed smells like this Polish jelly (awesome jello slime) desert particularly the berry one. Ooh nostalgia.
I’ll try this iced another time it is like we skipped Fall and went right to winter!

As for taste : it kinda tastes like that Polish jello slime except more watered down.Sweet little tart !

Perfect for: Icing, instead of jello, summer feelings in winter darkness.

Final verdict: nice and nostalgic. Not heavy on hibiscus. Quite pleasant hot but would be great iced.I’ll finish my stash but unless it charms me much more it won’t hit the glorious pantheon of my staples.

Oh, I missed commenting on this post when I zipped through it earlier, but I’m happy that the prognosis is so positive. Are you going to be able to drink tea after? How long will recovery be?

I hope it goes smoothly! :O

(relatively positive – I mean it’s still scary and stressful)

Good luck Kat. Just remember not to do too much research online before the surgery. Those are great odds but still scary. Happy thoughts to you.

Thanks guys:-)

A lovely balance of guav-y goodness and tartness from the hibiscus. The bright pink colour is a lot of fun and the smell is intoxicating, but nothing super special when hot brewed. Definitely will be trying it iced though!

WAY better iced!

This is one of my favourite DT iced tea’s of the summer. Although it reminds me of pink passionfruit in terms of it’s raw flavour, it’s definitely sweeter and lacks the tart notes of pink passionfruit. I only drink this iced – I don’t enjoy these types of “all fruit” teas warm. Will be sad when my tin runs out and fall is here…

Sweet Canadian

You know this is going to be around for good right? Its a TOTM so it isn’t seasonal.

But who can justify buying iced tea in -30 prairie weather? NOT I! :P

Sweet Canadian

Lol! Well the fall collection is always the best so you don’t have to be too sad. I am so excited for it!

I love guava and have ever since I visited Hawai’i a couple of years ago. So when Davids had a guava tea, I knew I had to try it. Ordered it over the weekend and got a free 50g bag of Goji Pop with it, so can’t complain.

The dry smell is incredible. As soon as I ripped the top off the bag, I could smell it. Tropical and fruity and yum.

The taste was ok. I tried it hot and could definitely taste the hibiscus, which I’ve realized is a bit off-putting for me. I’ll have to make it iced and slightly sweetened to know for sure how I feel about it though.

Goji Berry yum :)
