Spice up your fall

Is there anything more autumnal than a pumpkin? If there is, we don’t wanna hear about it. Not when pumpkin can taste this good. This sweet and comforting, all-natural blend combines pumpkin, honeybush, cinnamon, cocoa and real maple crystals. The result? A warming taste of fall we just can’t get enough of. And since it’s caffeine-free, you can enjoy it all day and all night. Now that’s pumpkin to get excited about.

I opened this and backed away quickly. It reeks of alcohol, my husband gagged after smelling it and my mother said it smelled of liqueur filled chocolates. I wasn’t hoping for much as I brewed this, and I’m glad that I didn’t get my hopes up. It smelled slightly less of rubbing alcohol as it steeped, and started to smell spicy instead. Upon drinking though, I found there was a definite alcohol-ish flavour to it. It was sweet, I could taste the maple, and a mass of spices that I could not readily identify individually, but that alcoholic aftertaste was just blargh!

I am trying to use up my oldest tea up first which is hard sometimes when that tea is no longer in season. I don’t usually drink pumpkin teas in spring/summer. I have cold brewing everything lately, so I thought I would try it out.

This was just weird. Cold pumpkin tea???? It was alright but just too weird. I might have to save this for fall

What a lovely fall tea – a zero caffeine delight! Upon smelling this dry, I could smell a lot of pumpkin, cinnamon, spices and vanilla. I love the large pumpkin chunks that are in the blend! The maple and pumpkin are really brought out when the tea is wet. The liquor is a fall, pumpkin orange – perfect for this tea! The taste is smooth, bright and reminiscent of pumpkin pie. Takes milk and sugar well. The milk helps amplify the pumpkin pie with whipped cream flavor. I personally prefer this over Teavana’s Pumpkin Spice Brulee.

gross. do not like. And i was so hopeful based on the smell. Sadly the maple in this gets in the way of the rest of the tea. Pumpkin, cinnamon etc..yes, maple to this? no. It’s just kind of a weirdly sweet, strange brew. blech.

I remember having this and disliking the sourness of the honeybush. I agree, this one was not a keeper.

Evol Ving Ness

I likely it initially and then there was some odd bitter thing going on half-way through the cup. Chicory? Dandelion? I have to review the ingredient list and try again. The tea had such promise from the smell alone.

Kristal

Aw, sorry to hear you didn’t like it :(

Sil

i don’t like a lot of david’s teas – the added sweetner and such annoys me.

Kristal

I hear you with the sweetner- that can bug me too.

I stopped by Davids on Friday and picked up a little bit of a few different teas. I snagged half an ounce of this guy after really enjoying the scent in the jar. Unfortunately, I just made a cup and it tastes like oatmeal to me, which I HATE. Maybe playing with the steeping time, adding some cream, or something will make it a little better for me.

I wanted so much to love this tea – pumpkin pie! caffeine-free! – but, unfortunately, it just isn’t to be. I’m not sure if it’s the honeybush or the whipped cream flavouring that is giving me such a weird, sour note, but there it is.

Evol Ving Ness

I haven’t tried this one yet, but I find that steeping at a lower temperature gets rid of that sour wood thing. I boil the water and then add about a tablespoon or two of cold water and then steep.

Happy Thanksgiving fellow steepsters! We are celebrating it in Canada this weekend :) so I am having a delicious morning cup of this. Sweet, very pumpkin pie like considering I had the real thing last night. Whipped cream, maple, graham cracker and cinnamon. Yum.

I’ve had this several times and I’m still not sure what to make of it. I feel like the flavor is pretty weak. I am getting pumpkin for sure but not much spice.

Edit: all the spice settled at the bottom of my mug so I got a big spice kick but only at the very end…

Yess, delicious creamy pumpkin! I can totally see myself sipping this herbal tea as a latté in cold evenings in Fall :)
(I didn’t know there was such a thing as whipped cream aromas?)
