SIPDOWN!

I brewed the last of this cold to see if there was any improvement to the way this tastes and it’s better by leaps and bounds. That being said, it’ not enough to raise my rating of it since it’s not particularly “berry” tasting and only tastes good when it’s cold. Not to mention that my other half says it tastes like tiajuana flats "half sweet and half unsweetened tea’ that we get whenever we’re in florida lol

Had a terrible night sleep last night. Woke up at 2am to my husband coughing…he definitely sounded sick and was complaining of pain in his shoulder (he seems to be better this morning though). I then couldn’t go back to sleep for about 2 hours. I felt like I wanted to get up and my stomach felt like it needed food! At 2am?!! I read for a bit, and that helped me get back to sleep. Good thing I don’t have work today!! We are thankfully taking this week off for our anniversary :)

Needless to say I needed some good solid tea this morning! In the absence of blueberry cream cheese danish, which, if I had any, would have been perfect this morning, I had this tea. I know people complain about the lack of flavoring in this tea, but I really like it. It was perfect today with some soy milk and sugar and paired nicely with my blueberry jam toast. Nice solid black with a hint of blackberry. I feel lots better now.

TastyBrew

Happy anniversary! That’s awesome you guys are taking the week off! I hope you have some fun stuff planned!

Tealizzy

Thanks TastyBrew! Except my husband still keeps working today. We are just taking day trips, but hopefully, that’ll keep him away from work! Planning on heading down to Monterey/Carmel one day and doing some museum stuff in SF another, and maybe hiking at Pt. Reyes. :)

Sipdown, 242.

This time I am using filtered water, so I feel like this one is even more flavorful than last time. Blackberry is a hard flavor to capture in general, but this one does as decently as any of the others I have tried. I feel like blackberry flavors in tea are best in combination with other berry or fruit flavors as it is kind of a slightly boring flavor on its own. Blackberries also might be one of those things where the flavor doesn’t really translate well from the berry. Nevertheless this is a decent enough cup and I drank it happily.

This is my warm-weather, iced tea staple – I love it! It’s funny how you can enjoy a cuppa hot tea, and it’s decent, but when you add ice, it comes alive and seems like a whole different cuppa! This tea is like that. I enjoyed the hot variety, but decided to try it iced one day – and all the sudden, Blackberry Bramble became my #1 Iced Tea Staple!

My only complaint is that I’m using it up far too quickly. But I am drinking multiple infusions of it. I’m just slightly obsessed. :)

Tealizzy

I need to ice this one. I’ve been meaning to, but keep forgetting about it. Plus, my iced teas haven’t been great, but I’m not sure if the teas I’ve picked to ice are to blame or me. Ha!

KeenTeaThyme

This is really good iced. I always double the amount of tea I use and I can still get at least two infusions from the leaves. Good luck!

I’m not quite sure what to do about this tea. I went through my tea this weekend and came up with a more complete (though still not fully, I haven’t cleaned out the boxes in the spare room and I KNOW that there’s at least one Verdant and Amoda box in there hiding) list of my teas. 487 for those who don’t want to check. But this one…in addition to the mostly full packet I have at work, I have two sample packets at home…those will go in my swap tub I think. I stand by my previous note about how this just tastes muddled though I’m getting a weird taste in the middle of the sip and the back of my throat that is putting me off. I put the normal amount of sugar I usually do for a black tea these days and it’s coming off almost sickly sweet. I have one more cup of this in the pot so I’ll try that one with less sweetener.

In other news, I need some recommendations for a good hand cream because my building is SO DRY, 22% humidity according to my desk thing and I keep putting lotion on and it isn’t helping. Not to mention that I’m having an allergic reaction to something that manifests itself as lumps along my joints that make them hurt to bend. The dryness doesn’t help. Arg.

haha time to start drinking up your teas!

Starfevre

Yeah, I’m going to have to start a sipdown log like you guys, I think. Problem is most of my teas are not sipdownable in a quick type fashion.

Sil

oh… so hand cream – if you don’t mind things with a smell or really THICK cream, go with Glysomed. i hate the stuff because i don’t like the smell or the texture, but it works lol

If you are like me, the one thing i’ve found that works well is the following: http://www.aveeno.ca/productline/intense-relief
I haven’t tried the overnight one, but i LOVE the hand cream one because it absorbs quickly, and hold through washing my hands/doing dishes.

Sil

sipdowns = baby steps. I organised my cupboard by age and make sure that i’m drinking at least a couple of cups of my older teas every week so that i’m working on those teas/quantities. :)

ashmanra

Plain old organic coconut oil is what I use. Smells good, but dogs love to lick my hands. Not greasy once rubbed in but lasts.

Sil

i miss cocoa butter.. heh

Starfevre

I’ll look into that. Amazon seems to carry it.

TheTeaFairy

+1 with Ashmanra. I’ve been using organic virgin coconut oil on my whole body for years, and I’m told I have the skin of a toddler, lol! It feels greasy when you first apply it, but as you rub it, it absorbs quickly. And the scent is like vacation in a jar.( I also use it as a lip balm)

TheTeaFairy

Oh, and Ashmanra, there should be a caution warning on the jar that says: «keep canine away while applying», haha, same problem here!!!

Thanks Azzrian for sharing this sample with me.

It is a very decent tea, with a light tea base and good aromas of blackberry.
It makes the job without being exceptional nor complex.

I am still searching the perfect blackberry tea and moreover a perfect raspberry tea.

Yes it’s so hard to find the perfect blackberry. Harneys & Sons also has one that sounds good. You haven’t tried that one yet by any chance, have you? I’d be interested in your opinion.

Ysaurella

no unfortunately didn’t but i want to try the Mariage Frères one

Ysaurella

and would love to taste this one as well :http://www.mariagefreres.com/boutique/UK/ft+framboise+T823.html

they are cheap, hope they are good !

Barbara

Hey, that may be something to consider!

I used the last of my sample of this to brew up a big batch to ice. Unfortunately my sister and I lost a bit of the liquor as we funnelled it into a container. We added a little alfalfa honey to sweeten it.
As I suspected, I like this much better cold and it seemed smoother. The blackberry comes out much better! It was just the slightest bit bitter, but not in a bad way at all. I’m still looking for the perfect blackberry tea.

Tealizzy

Ooh! I was going to try cold-brewing this one! Glad to hear it’s good cold!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

It was quite yummy cold!

thanks starfevre for another one to try! I was a little hesitant about this. Blackberry leaves are my third least favorite tea ingredient. I don’t like this tea, but I don’t think it’s the blackberry leaves. I knew to only steep it for two minutes, because the blackberry leaves get worse the longer you steep them. I think this cup went for three minutes though. The flavor is odd and I wouldn’t call it blackberry or raspberry… more like pickles with mustard. Strange! Luckily there is only one teaspoon left and I will probably let someone else try it! It’s nice to TRY this one though, as I’d love to try everything from the usually amazing Della Terra. But I’d say this is my least favorite in blends I’ve tried.

Dry it smells like blackberry but brewed was wondering ‘This is supposed to taste like blackberry?’ Honestly I tossed it.

Even let it fully chill. Tried it hot, warm, and cold.

Tealizzy

I thought that too when I had my first cup, but I noticed the blackberry more on the second cup.

From Azzrian’s swap.

I’ve brewed up a cup of this this morning while packing away some clothes and other morning chores. I had a momentary panic when I realised I’d forgotten to take out the cup’s strainer, but thankfully on drinking this there was no bitterness. Quite exciting! The berry flavours are more prominent in the dry leave, in the steeped leaf they add just some sweetness to the mix. Might have to try adding some of the vanilla rock sugar Azz sent…

Thanks, I’m quite enjoying this.
