Carrot Cake

When I first tried this tea I was in love. I thought it was the greatest tea in the world. Now, I can’t find the cream cheese icing I really enjoyed in my first few cups and the rooibos is stronger than I remembered. It is still tasty but not the carrot cake tea I fell in love with.

This tea is normally pretty amazing, but I think I accidently underleafed it.
Also, it’s a rooibos. I probably should have steeped it longer.

I’m sorry Carrot Cake. I know you can be better than this!
It pairs well with Graham crackers, btw.

Also, I wanted to ask – have you guys had issues with your “likes” disappearing? I read everyone’s notes and like them as I go, and then when I go back I find they aren’t there. :( I think part of it is my phone doesn’t register anything, but I think it does it when I’m on the computer too. (Speak up and lemme know I’m not imagining things!)

Not sure about this one. It’s more spiced cream cheese icing than actual carrot cake.
Not even sure about the spices – it’s not bad, but it’s not good either. Just weird and not quite living up to the flavors promised.

I’m so sleepy tonight! My workplace went curling for our social event, and I am just beat. It was fun, but I’m sleepy now lol. So I made a cup of this before bed. It smells very sweet and icing like, but I’m hoping for more carrot cake flavor in this cup. I like how it’s not very oily on top unlike davidstea’s cake like blends. Anyways, I will probably take this tea with me to bed and nod off. Night steepster! Oh and see previous notes on this tea!

Wow, the dry tea actually smells like carrot cake with cream cheese icing! Yum! Sadly, the flavour doesn’t live up to the aroma. Again, not a bad tea, but there’s not a great deal of flavour. Perhaps it could be likened to plain, un-iced carrot cake, but the aroma promised so much more.

ETA: Re-steep also pretty bland. I’ll try a longer first infusion next time.

I’m cranky. I’m tired. I wanted tea more than anything tonight, and had little patience to find something I really, really wanted without caffeine. So, I grabbed this. I actually grabbed a few others prior, because I wanted to try something Della Terra -ish tonight as I made an order with them. This was the only decaf that smelled like something other than the seemingly standard maple syrup -flavored pancake syrup smell I’ve come to associate with many of DT’s rooibos teas.

Dry and steeped, I got little from this other than perhaps some carrot and rooibos. It’s an okay blend, however I’m still getting that pancake-syrupy sweetness and little else. Cream cheese? I wish I tasted some. Carrot cake? Well, maybe. A little, teensy bit?

I feel like I’m doing something wrong with these teas, as all of the DTs have basically tasted the same to me, so far. Not going to rate it, as my crankiness has now taken over.

Oh, wow. This is very sweet and carroty. The other reviews I’ve read are right – I can taste the cream cheese frosting! It is literally almost like biting into a carrot cake. A little spicy, a little zesty with a creamy sweet aftertaste. Words cannot describe what I’m feeling right now. This is amazing and something I’ll definitely be ordering one day.

I haven’t been feeling too great today…very queasy and tired and achy. :( Maybe I wore myself out today. I made this tea because I didn’t want something chocolatey and rich to potentially upset my stomach even more after everything today. So far, I’m really happy with my choice!

Sipdown! Oh, wow. This is even better this time. I steeped it lower because I was making white tea at the same time and I seem to have seriously found the perfect parameters. Up goes the rating! It’s mind-blowingly flavorful and creamy. I have no idea anymore if this is carrot cake (it’s so fruity!), but it is delicious, whatever it is.

The strongest flavor of this tea was the cake flavoring, which is somewhat reminiscent of butter, brown sugar and vanilla. I think it fails to remind me of carrot cake because it tastes buttery and spice cakes such as carrot cake don’t tend to have butter in them. What is missing from this tea is the one thing that I expected to stand out the most and what would have given it a lot more depth. I just can not taste the spices. I can vaguely pick out the cinnamon, but it is hidden under the overpowering cake flavoring. The cream cheese frosting is just no where to be found.

First off, this smells wonderful. Just exactly like warm carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Alas, as many have already noted, the flavor doesn’t live up to the smell. It is tasty, but doesn’t quite hit the mark. I steeped my final cup for a good long time with a grain of crystal sugar. I can taste carrot and spice, but mostly it tastes like rooibos. A little bit of creaminess comes in at the end. Not a bad cup, but nothing I’d write home about. Which is fine because this is a sipdown.

UPDATE: Turns out I didn’t finish my mug, so I got to try some of this cold. So. much. better. It actually totally tastes like carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The sip starts spicy, with a full carrot flavor coming in soon after, and a lingering creamy frosting aftertaste. But who wants cold carrot cake? I would absolutely love this tea if it tasted like this when it was hot. I’m actually giving it a rating bump to reflect the awesomeness of the cold flavor.
