This tea—while presented beautifully with a gorgeous box and had a nice teabag—had a dusty flavor that I was just not interested in. Don’t get me wrong—it’s so much better than lipton—but I expected better from a tea that appeared to have it all going for it.

Steep Information:
Amount: 1 teabag
Additives: none
Water: 6 ounces filtered boiling
Steep Time: a little over 7 minutes
Served: Hot

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: red tea (woody)
Steeped Tea Smell: sweet red tea, woody
Flavor: smooth red tea, floral
Body: Medium
Aftertaste: floral
Liquor: deep reddish-brown

This is one of the flavors in my Mighty Leaf Variety 15 pack

It’s a solid rooibos that isn’t very strongly woody (how i usually describe rooibos as tasting). I wouldn’t mind in another variety pack but I personally would rather a fruity flavor than floral as flavor in my tea.

Also, I could not taste the hibiscus at all, and I love hibiscus.

Post-Steep Additives: none

Love love loving this tea today. Only had 2 packs in the variety pack. Sadly, they are gone now. I steeped each bag twice so now I’ve had four cups. Total repurchase!

This may be one of the best rooibos teas I have had – it was a much more subtle flavour, which I actually prefer (unless I’m having a rooibos chai). It was a good afternoon tea to have and very relaxing.

Aggiunge ad un ottimo rooibos un profumo di frutta esotica.

I like rooibos tea generally and so I like this one too. Tastes like rooibos with a slight flower taste, and the smell gives some hints of fruit. I would drink this one again. Tastes good as it gets cold too – gets more fruity.

I had so much hope for this tea’s flavor I’m too disappointed to rate it higher.
Upon opening I was delighted by the packaging: thread sewn pouches with no staples and cellophane covers. Totally biodegradable! Yes! Good-bye American over-packaging guilt! The aroma is an enticing red fruit and hibiscus scent, not so much rooibos.
But after I brewed it with seven onces of water…
Very little aroma, now entirely missing the hibiscus for which I bought it. The flavor was mostly woody rooibos with a slightly floral taste, I’m guessing the marigold. I’ve never had marigold before. And oddly no hibiscus. Oh well.
Over all it fufills the role of bag tea perfectly: a biodegradable, organic, uncaffeinated remedy for nights so exhausting that one can barely boil water and pour it into a cup. I know it was exactlywhat I needed during last night’s thunderstorm that kept me awake and reaching for a book. It’s not bad to try or pick it up on sale, but, based on reviews, Mighty Leaf can do better.

I saw this Might Leaf tea at a local Whole Foods Market so I thought I give this a try. First impression was great (this is before steeping). I love the delicate tea bag and the fact that I can see the contents inside very clearly. I picked up a scent that very fruity and has a honey-like sweetness. I was going to follow the instructions and brew the for 5 minutes but I left the tea bag in the cup for about 9 minutes by accident. By now, I thought the tea was probably going to be very overpowering. However, I was quite shocked/disappointed to find the exact oppossite. Though very perfumey, the tea was rather bland and tasteless. The flavors disappear so quickly that I wasn’t even really to pick up much. The second brew yield the same result. Essentially, it was just a cup of fragrant water.

The bottom line, great presentation but not too thrilled with the tea. I have read a great deal about Might Leaf and a lot of the reviews seemsvery positive. Better luck next time :-/

I have a single bag of this tea that the nice man in Nando’s gave me (the conversation went thus: me: “Can I buy that tea by the box?” him: “no, sorry, we just do the cups.” me: “Can i buy just a bag of it now then? My friends are leaving, I want to try it but Mighty Leaf’s p&p charges are scandalous, and I’ll pay for the price of a full cup…?” ::hopeful grin:: him: ::backs slowly away from the nutter:: “here, on the house. Enjoy.” The moral of this story? Acting eccentric gets you free tea.)

The problem is I really like it, so it looks as though I’m going to be paying those p&p charges. It’s sweet and fruity with a strong but pleasant hit of vanilla, and it doesn’t have that dry-mouth sensation I keep getting with rooibos teas. Once it’s cooled a little the vanilla becomes a little less intense and the flower flavours more apparent, so quite a complex tea.

A very easy, beautifully fragrant tea with notes of vanilla (flavor), mango (flavor), and hibiscus. The tea itself is colorful, with rose, marigold and hibiscus. It is somewhat deceptive though— the flavor is far less intense than the aroma but still enjoyable. Avoid overbrewing to avoid any bitterness. 4-5 minutes is ideal.
