This was kind of my attempt at picking a “Valentine’s Day” themed tea to drink, and it was pretty good. Definitely sweet with a clear nougat taste, though this cup was less nutty than I recall the first one tasting.

I still have a few cups worth left from my sample, but I could see this maybe being something to restock.

VariaTEA

This was one of the ones I was looking at if/when I place my order. Was the base vegetal at all?

Roswell Strange

A little, but not overwhelmingly so. I’ll save a cup worth for you and send it with the rest of your package.

VariaTEA

Yay! It will be nice to try a few more of their teas. By the way, you enjoyed Pineapple Upside Down Cake by Della Terra, right?

Roswell Strange

I did. If you’re sending another package though, I already have around an oz of it – and my cupboard is larger enough as is ;)

VariaTEA

Haha. I was planning on slipping the rest of my sample into the next package I send because I really was not a fan. I can keep it out if you would prefer.

Also, I noticed your cupboard size. Yours is almost 100 teas greater than mine :P

Roswell Strange

I’m slowly sipping some stuff down. It helps that I can’t afford to buy anything, though. I figure I can aim for a (measly) one sipdown a day… Lots of stuff I have is in quantity, though. Or untouched samples, which are two or three cups worth.

wheeee! Cavocorax sent me a sample of this one in part because she’s awesome but also because she’s evil and is trying to prevent me from reaching my goal this month! heh

I actually like this one a bunch. It reminds me a little of green caramel from the persimmontree tea, but different. Smoother and more milky? nougatty? What is nice about this one too is that it feels…like a mouthful. This isn’t a wimpy watery feeling tea. Thanks for letting me try this out cavo!

Backlog note 10 of 13.

You know, I told myself that I didn’t like vanilla when it was mixed in with green tea. There’s something about the combination that just doesn’t work for me. The smoothness of vanilla with black tea? Hot damn. But green tea has a sharper flavour that I think works better with fruit than with vanilla.

However, I got excited when I saw all the positive reviews for this tea by other steepsterites – especially the one by Sil. Although her review was somewhat guarded, I figured that if she liked this green tea when she so rarely enjoys greens, maybe it was worth a shot.

Um…. no. I’m wishing I hadn’t bought this tea. It’s sweet, but the leaf was too bitter and umami to really meld well with the vanilla/nut flavour of the nougat. Perhaps I steeped it for too long, or at too high a temperature, but my first experience with this tea was not positive.

Dude.

I loved this.

The first one of my RiverTea order that I decided to try, and incidentally the only one I ordered which wasn’t fruity.

I am almost regretting not buying more than 50g. Almost, but the weight of my tea cupboard looming over me makes me ok with not having more.

It’s sweet and toasty and nutty and it’s a great example of what good (complementary) flavoring can do to a green tea….since green teas aren’t even my favorite.

Cameron B.

This sounds amazing! I love anything almond and I’ve never had a nougat flavored tea, but how could it possibly be wrong?! To the wishlist it goes. ;)

Courtney

This one was awesome. Even though I never reach for greens, I’m considering picking some of this one up for my cupboard. Nougat teas are awesome. Have you tried Bayswater’s Divine Temptation?

ohfancythat

No I haven’t! I don’t think I’ve tried any Bayswater teas actually.

Courtney

Ooh, I’ll include some in the next parcel I send your way. It’s quite tasty.

OMGsrsly

Bayswater has Divine Temptation in a rooibos and green as well. Just FYI. And I don’t mind being a dealer if you want to order some!

Roswell Strange

VariaTEA and I were both fans of this one as well :)

Sipdown…made sure I had cooler water, timed a 3 min steep, and it was still bitter. Guess this just isn’t my tea, but thanks again to Dexter for letting me try this.

Again reached in the box from TheTeaFairy . This smells deliciously nutty, reminds me a lot of Almond Biscotti, my favourite Della Terra green and one my favourite greens of all time. I read the notes from others on this and it seems like everyone is reminded of something different. Sil thinks of Caramel Green from the persimmon co. and someone else is reminded of something called Divine Seduction, company not mentioned. For me, this is almond biscotti to a T.

I brewed it in the glass gaiwan because my plastic steeper, convenient as it is, it absorbs odours as most plastic does. I am of course not helping matters by leaving tea leaves in there over night or for hours even during the day. Lazy. I’m just too excited to drink the tea rather than sit there and do “dishes”.

Anyway, since it’s in the glass gaiwan I see it brews a cloudy deep yellow. The taste is good as is, I added nothing. brewed at 175F for fear of burning. 2.5 minutes. It’s good, nutty, and creamy. I wish this was a black tea so I can put sugar and non-dairy creamer. Sigh. I’m an addict. Thanks, TheTeaFairy !

The nuttiness works great with the green tea base here. It’s very similar to Divine Temptation, and the almond is pretty subtle if it’s there at all, mostly nougat I’m getting here. Either way, it’s really tasty.

VariaTEA

Yay! I am glad you liked this one as well. I was a little hesitant about the green base, especially after trying the awesomeness of Divine Temptation, but I thought it really worked.

VariaTEA

I plan on grabbing this in the RiverTea order I eventually place. I think it might be my favorite of the three nougat teas I had.

Courtney

Which other nougat have you had?

VariaTEA

This, Divine Temptation, and Cornelia Bean’s Sweet Temptation

Roswell Strange

This one that I’d pick up too…

Plunkybug

Mmmm, nougat teas. You can’t go wrong, I don’t think.

Sipdown!! (204)…and I already miss it.

This is delicious!! Thank you Roswell Strange so much for sparing a cup for me to try. For some reason I have had an influx of nougat teas in the past little while and this is by far my favourite of the bunch. The green base provides a buttery smooth on which the sweet and nutty nougatty flavor shines. There is even a hint of grassiness that is somehow only enhancing the flavor. This will definitely be apart of my RiverTea order (you know, the one I keep talking about but have never actually placed :P)

Suziqzer

Green tea’s not my favorite, but this sounds like a good one to try. I may have to put it on my shopping list for whenever I get around to trying RiverTea.

Roswell Strange

I surprisingly loved this one too. I’d definitely buy it if/when I had a smaller cupboard. I need to finish off some other green blends first ;)

VariaTEA

When I reign in my cupboard, RiverTea will be my first order. That and some more teas from Nina’s. I want more Ma Passion, 4 Fruits Rouge, and Under the Mango Tree. Oh I also want HI’s Strawberry Justice and Harney’s Soba. Okay, I think I might have a problem.

Suziqzer

Lol.. VariaTEA.. I think we could all do the same thing you just did!
