From Trader Joe's

Even if you consider yourself a “morning person,” it can be tough to bounce out of bed on a dark winter’s morn. The solution? Trader Joe’s Winter Wake Up Tea, a warm, wintry-spiced blend of black tea that’s sure to put some pep in your step. Inside every teabag, bracing black tea is imbued with sweet cinnamon, fragrant orange peel, and spicy ginger & cloves — it’s a winter warmer in the truest sense, whether you enjoy it alone or with steamed milk and a pinch of sugar. With your renewed vim & vigor after your morning cuppa, you might even spice up your winter cakes by steeping a few bags of Winter Wake Up Tea in the liquid called for in your recipe.

Ingredients: Black tea, cinnamon, orange peels, licorice, ginger, natural flavors, cloves

Brewing Instructions:

For a delicious cup of hot tea: Bring fresh cold water to a rolling boil. Pour water over a teabag and brew for 3-5 minutes. Remove teabag, add milk or sweetener if desired.

For a refreshing quart of iced tea: Bring fresh cold water to a rolling boil. Pour four cups over 3-5 teabags and brew for 3-5 minutes. Remove teabags and pour over ice filled glasses. Serve with milk and sweetener if desired.

Another of my coworker’s abandoned teas. As far as bagged chai go… I’m okay with this. It’s still not the best, with that really artificial/oily spice flavor, but it goes hard on the cinnamon rather than the clove so instead of being overtaken by clove oil that dominates the whole tea, it tastes mostly like one of those generic “cinnamon candy” teas… which is also a very artificial flavor, but works okay for me since I’m okay with that really artificial cinnamon flavor in candies.

This is pretty nice as a latte with sweet vanilla almond milk (though I did burn my mouth on it terribly at work yesterday when I went in for a drink during a boring customer service staff meeting without waiting for my thermos to cool properly). I’ll probably just keep making it that way until I use up the teabags, since it is so serviceable that way.

Drinkable but nothing to write home about.

Another cast off from a friend. I find TJ’s teas can be hit or miss in the same box. It was chilly this morning (62*) and a warm mug sounded good. Since my social media is complaining about pumpkin spice, I was thinking cinnamon and cloves might be nice this morning.
Sadly, this mug is a very lack luster mug of water. I do get a vague cinnamon flavor but that could just be because I am looking for it. I’ll be honest and have no clue as to how old these tea bags are. Since they aren’t on the shelves right now, I would guess, at a minimum, a year old But I also know from experience that TJ’s tea bags can vary widely in their blending. Perhaps the next one will be better or perhaps I’ll just use these for the kids and their desire to have a cup of tea with mom.
