I initially thought two things when I first tried this tea: 1) Holy Bergamot, and 2) Sil would not like this at all.

The Bergamot is strong but not enough to curdle milk. I wouldn’t normally add milk to a Dian Hong but this scented tea takes it well- Like a freshly baked citrus loaf, with sweet potato and butterscotch notes. Someone else mentioned taro root and that is spot on. I also get a marmalade finish, which sours into a red wine aftertaste (and man, is that noticeable after cooking with our old syrah tonight).

I like to keep this one on hand for when the need for a nice iced tea strikes, but I’m pretty neutral about it as a hot tea. It’s not the tea’s fault, I just generally prefer something a little more surprising from my everyday tea. It’s a great earl grey, however; good quality tea and a nice balance of flavor (sure it could be stronger, but why completely drown out the tea?). I’d definitely recommend this one if earl grey is your style, or for people who want an accessible upgrade from tea bag earl grey…

I’m finishing up the last of this today and am more than a little sad about it. The base for this tea is incredibly rich and full and really makes this the best Earl Grey I’ve tried to date. The bergamot is not overpowering but it’s there; neither is the tea itself so bold that it overwhelms the aroma and flavor of the bergamot oil. Truly one of my favorite cups lately.

Tea of my morning!
This sipdown is a sad one. This is probably the favorite Earl Grey I’ve ever tried, and I will certainly be bringing more of it into my cupboard at some point in the future. I need several more sipdowns before I do that, but when I do have those sipdowns, then I shall order this with great delight!

This tea is really well done. I’m not a huge Earl Grey fan. Not that I have a distaste for it but I never look for or order it. I received some of this as a sample in an order. I decided to give it a try this morning and I’m really glad that I did.

This is a perfectly blended Earl Grey style of tea. Not too heavy on the bergamot and it blends really well with the Dian Hong. The bergamot itself tastes like a high quality version. There are also notes of malt and maybe a honey like flavor. It is very smooth. I would be very likely to order this from now on.

9Apr- broke in the new gaiwan with this tea. I threw it, so the shapes not quite right. It’s slightly bigger than my other one at about 175 ml. I may need a bigger teacup.

So tea…I think this may be the first earl grey I’ve ever really liked. Most earl greys I find to be too harsh. The bergamot is usually coarse and overpowering. This was light in both the bergamot and the base tea.

175 ml gaiwan, 205F, 6g ish
Leaf smells of bergamot, a clean citrus smell.
10s- tastes of sweet and gentle bergamot. 20, 35s, & 50s- sweet, gentle citrus, sweet potato, honey that lingers. Little bit of malt on later steeps. Steeped it 5 more times.
Perfectly scented/flavored. Really good. 93

Okay, yeah I really like this one and I’m too close to finishing it off. Western using 6 ounces, 2-3 grams of leaves, and following Brenden’s exact steeping instructions. So, so good. Curse my “budget”.

Great, had with splash of milk. I don’t get much of the bergamot flavor.

Scrolled through all the tasting notes and added everything that I could kind of pick up. I really like that feature, as it’s kind of hard for me to identify the flavors off the top of my head. Like, there was a flavor I couldn’t quite put my finger on, and when I saw Butterscotch in the list, a light went off!

Used .5 tablespoon/1.5 tsp.
