I’m alternating sips of Coconut Green with sips of Coconut Oolong (also by Zen Tea). The tea itself is definitely more prominent in the Coconut Green. Coconut is there, too, but very lightly. This could be partly due to my steeping, however, as they recommend 85C, and I let the water cool to about 70C (I forgot about it) before steeping. It might have a stronger flavour if I used a higher temp. I’ll try that next time.

It’s good, but I think I prefer the Oolong a bit more.

ETA: I just mixed the two types together in my cup, and I really like the mix. They seem to balance each other out well. I’ll try steeping them together next time.

It is hard for me to get green tea (especially flavored green tea) to come out right using my gaiwan. But I continue to try. For this tea, I’m glad I did.

This comes out surprisingly smooth with no trace of bitterness. The coconut flavor is present and creamy. I am enjoying this after a perfect spring trail walk. Life is good, friends. Drink it up.

I really enjoy this coconut green tea. Thr coconut is sweet and creamy, and tastes natural. The green tea is not too vegetal. It was also very good when I put the remainder of my cup in the fridge to chill.
With little kids running around, it seems I only get to drink half a cup of hot tea these days. Unless I guzzle it, but that’s not fun.

And it never tastes good heated up!

tigress_al

I agree Alyssa, it never tastes the same if you microwave it

Sipdown. While I much prefer Zen’s coconut oolong to this one, it was still a pretty good tea while it lasted.

Not a fan TTB. This goes down so smoothly! So smooth I’m kinda amazed. I had a bit of a breakdown. Missing my grandma. I needed a bit of a pick me up and this did nicely in helping with that.

All of the flavors blend so nicely. Nothing is too overpowering. The sencha base is a great choice.

There is nothing more refreshing than the combination of green tea and coconut. I picked this one up on a whim, because coconut seems to be one of my favorite flavors. I like how fresh this one smells; like freshly washed cruciferous vegetables and cream of coconut. The coconut in the blend is in small pieces, and oddly enough, bright green. Perhaps that is what they were talking about with the ‘flavoring’?

I am pleased as punch with the bright green liquor and the warm and creamy scent of the coconut. I steeped this twice, and the second infusion was not as good as the first. This would be a good take-to-work tea for me because I can just make it in my french press and not feel bad about only steeping it once. :P

I plan on cold-brewing this in coconut water eventually. As if it really needs MOAR COCO!

I found bright green coconut in a green oolong tea that supposedly didn’t have flavoring or additives. Maybe the coconut is good at soaking up the green from the leaves?

TeaNecromancer

I too have gotten the green coconut!

mm. Delicious. mm mm, delicious. mm. Delicious. mm mm, delicious. ← That is the song that I am currently singing to myself as I drink this tea. The tea is making me do it! I can’t help it…it’s just so good!

This tea is pure, simple happiness. You know what is in here? Green Tea, shredded coconut, and flavors (which I am assuming is just more coconut). That’s it. Plain and simple. But don’t let it trick you, this tea is going to take your taste buds on an amazing ride.

Steep 1: 1 heaping teaspoon, 2 minutes, 8 ounces of water, 185 degrees, and a touch of agave
the first flavor to hit you is the sencha… it’s smooth and buttery. As the sip ends you get an influx of glorious coconut. Sweet, lovely coconut. Almost like the coconut that you bake with..it’s just naturally sweet, undeniable, milky coconut without the artificially in your face over-flavored taste that many teas seem to take. There is a bit of astringency towards the end of my sip nothing too off putting.

Steep 2: same leaves, 2 minutes, 6 ounces, 175 degrees, a touch of agave
WOW! Even better than the first steep. No astricency whatsoever. Just perfectly silky, creamy, buttery sencha and coconut. The two flavors perfectly balance each other out. One is not too dominate over the other, solely working together to create a beautiful medley.

Steep 3: same leaves, 2 minutes, 6 ounces, 175 degrees, a touch of agave
Yum. Dear cup, please don’t end. You are making my taste buds dance like a joyous greek family dancing at a wedding.

Steep 4: same leaves, 2 minutes, 6 ounces, 175 degrees, a touch of agave
This tea just keeps going and going with the same amazing flavors. Ahhh. Soo good. Commence the singing that started this post.

So it’s no secret, I really like this tea. It’s buttery and coconuty and makes me happy. What more could I want?

This is my favourite coconut green.

You are inspiring me to want to do multiple steeps of the same leaves for more teas. I usually only do that with higher end straight teas, but your tasting notes make me reconsider that limitation.

gmathis

Perkiest tasting note I’ve read all day. Thanks for the smile!

TheTeaFairy

Love this review.

albertocanfly

yzz I can see why! It is definitely the best one that I have ever had!
Anlina I would recommend it! :] Often, the flavor profiles of the tea can shift dramatically..and plus, more lovely cups for free! And if it ends up not resteeping well, you aren’t out anything!:]
gmathis and TheTeaFairy Thank you so much, you two! :D

Sample from Ost! Thanks hun!

Not too bad; it’s very straightforward. Green tea and coconut. No frills, no choir of celestial beings singing. The sencha base is buttery and grassy, but otherwise nondescript. The coconut tastes very “green”. It’s not like coconut cream pie or artificial coconut flavor. It’s very natural. It makes me think of one specific childhood summer, when my mom would crack open coconuts and we would sit in the front lawn eating coconut meat off of the shell. It calls to mind that specific texture. There’s a slightly floral, almost soapy aftertaste that I’m not a big fan of. Otherwise it’s alright. I’m not a green tea person so that’s as much as I can say!

Teeny Tiny TTB

Wow! This one is really nice. It’s more of a toasted coconut. It actually reminds me of those toasted coconut marshmallows they used to give us at camp. I wasn’t a huge fan of those, but this is delightful! I added a touch of sweetener so it wouldn’t get too vegetal. Not sure how much water I used, but I filled my 12oz mug about 3/4 of the way so close to the 8oz mark I think? Anyway, really enjoying this one. Hope it lasts a resteep!
