drank Sencha "Matsuri" by Lupicia
121 tasting notes

I’m taken back to a happy place when I was staying with a friends family in Japan. Every morning when we woke up, we ate thick toast with yogurt and a cup of sencha tea. We’d eat while huddling under the kotatsu and trying to plan out where we’d go that day. That was 6 years ago and I am overdue for a return. Maybe after I graduate and when I save up some money after finding a job.
Enough down memory lane and onto the tea! It’s smooth but full bodied. You can distinctively taste the grassiness but that seems to disappear on the tongue after a sip. There’s no hint of bitterness, just happiness. :)

I guess this is where the happiness from ‘Happiness’ ended up. =)

This tea should be named happiness instead of their ‘Happiness’ haha. I need to try Mariage’s green teas to compare though. A place in Palo Alto just opened and sells a wide variety of their teas.

They are so good and so different. MF and Lupicia are by very far my favourite flavoured greens – I wouldn’t want to be without either.

I’m excited to read about your MF impressions, but not so excited about the Palo Alto place – as if visiting my family there needed to get even MORE expensive shopping wise.

Anna

(…but I obviously need to know where it is, nonetheless!)

I have Bouddha Bleu and when i brewed it, i swore it was the best cup of tea I have had to date. The flavor is consistent and I was able to get almost 6 steeps out of a single serving.
I’ll just say it’s a small place in downtown PA and they have delicious french sweets. :)

Anna

Ooh, I haven’t tried that one.

What is the shop in Palo Alto called. I live in the area and always on the lookout for more tea!

Bio

I became a tea addict after I decided to make some changes to my diet and cut out soda completely.

Teas I like
I love Japanese green teas but I can be a little snobby about them. When I was in Japan I stayed in an area known for sencha, so I can be pretty picky.

Companies I enjoy
I’ve had most experience with Lupicia because they’re very close to me. I enjoy their non flavored green teas and white teas the most. Their flavored teas are good, but it’s usually a hit or miss.
DavidsTea is a bit far but when I make trips to San Francisco I usually buy a bit. I like their herbal teas the most. Their other teas never wow me and have too much flavoring for me.
I like Adagio for their fan blends – I wish more companies did this! The tea isn’t the best quality but I do enjoy my initial steeps.
I found a store near me that sells Mariage Frères. They’re expensive but I don’t think I have had a more delicious cup of tea before.

Tibits about me
I returned to school several years ago and I am finally graduating in March 2014 so I’m really excited to finally be receiving my bachelor’s. I spend my evenings when I’m not studying watching cheesy scifi movies, playing video games, watching video game streams, or stalking the internet for tea. I have an adorable old man kitty who always wants whatever I’m drinking. When I can, I like to sew and knit while I marathon BBC shows or asian dramas.
