35 Tasting Notes

Earl Grey from Samovar
85

A touch of white agave instead of sugar and a dash of milk. that’s the sweet spot

Moorish Mint from Samovar
88

over ice with a slice of orange. mmm… perfect summer drink.

Wild Leaf, Sheng Pu-erh 1993 from Red Blossom Tea Company
96

this is fast becoming my current favorite, which is unfortunate since my supply is dwindling fast.

Silver Yin Zhen Pearls from Teavana
95

This has become my favorite White Tea. Even with such a long steep, it is sweet and unassuming. It is mildly fragrant and I love the aroma. It is perfect for early morning tea.

Blood Orange Pu-erh from Samovar
94

A little bit of ginger, a little bit of orange peel and a thick earthy Pu-erh. If I don’t have a cup every few days, the next time is like experiencing it anew. My favorite breakfast tea.

Blood Orange Pu-erh from Samovar

Downy Sprout from Samovar
85

I’m still exploring the white teas and generally don’t care for peach flavor but could not resist a pot of this one with the honeysuckle. It is a very nice, light tea but with a full flavor. I highly recommend this one. I’m adding it to my shopping list!

Organic Bai Mu Dan White Tea from Arbor Teas
77

I only had a sample but I may have to change that. I like it. It is a very smooth tea with a little woody flavor, but also nuts and cocoa. I had it with my buttered toast and bacon this morning. Very nice.

Wild Leaf, Sheng Pu-erh 1993 from Red Blossom Tea Company
96

I accidentally steeped twice as long today and it yielded a richer creamier taste, which is I like better.

Maiden's Ecstasy from Samovar

Sometimes I forget just how sweet and smooth this Puerh really is. BTW, it really does go great with a bowl of ice cream. French vanilla, if you please.

Precious White Peach from Teavana
77

The only previous experience I have with Peach “Tea” was a blossoming flower tea and didn’t really suit my taste. However, this white tea with peach is very subtle and is much more to my liking. The peach flavor does not overwhelm the tea and is definitely on my “recommend” list. BTW, it went well with cookie this afternoon.

Golden Monkey from Adagio Teas
27

Although this is a fine, bold black tea, I find it to be a bit much for my tastes. I haven’t compared it to others in the same class and might find them overwhelming, as well. As a fan of more of the lighter, less intense teas, I recommend it for those who like the heavier flavors and not so much for others.

Pure Empower Mint from Guayaki
59

Went on holiday without any tea and picked this up to get by. Although it is good hot, everyone seemed to like it strongly brewed and iced.

Rooibos Chai from Teavana
96

Oooh! This is so great with some toast and fruit at breakfast. This Rooibos Chai has moved up the list to one of my top 5 daily teas

Moorish Mint from Samovar
88

It is a beautiful day to sit on the back porch, listen to a book and enjoy the sun. So I decided I needed some iced tea. In particular, a pitcher of Moorish Mint. Great idea. As for most iced teas, I doubled the tea. No sugar, though. It’s right enough as is.

Rooibos Vanilla from Adagio Teas
77

This is the last of the Rooibos samples, but it is one of the best. It has a very pleasant nose and feels perfect for morning tea. We’ll see how it weathers the morning.

Rooibos Cinnamon Apple from Adagio Teas
97

Is this dessert or tea? Either way is fine with me. I would be afraid to add sugar because this is plenty sweet without. I used to make sweet iced-T with a stick or two of cinnamon, but this is much better hot. Maybe I’ll try it iced on a hot afternoon.

Rooibos Berry from Adagio Teas
64

Since I happened on this sample and don’t generally favor flavored teas, I wasn’t expecting much out of this Rooibos that instead turned out to be quite nice. I’m thinking the strawberry flavor would go well with bananas, cream & ice in a smoothy, sort of.

Maiden's Ecstasy from Samovar
93
Masala Chai from Samovar
85

My second pot (thankfully I started small) was much better today. The second was lighter on the black tea (1 tbsp instead of two) and white agave instead of sugar. I much prefer the agave instead of sugar or honey.

Blood Orange Pu-erh from Samovar
94
Maiden's Ecstasy from Samovar
93

great for breakfast, too

Wild Leaf, Sheng Pu-erh 1993 from Red Blossom Tea Company
96

I steeped quite a bit longer this time to see what the effect would be and this Wild Pu-erh does take on a very creamy taste and is very different but also quite nice compared to my usual lighter steeps.
