9 Tasting Notes

China Golden Monkey (Fujian) from SpecialTeas

Wuyi Mao Feng Organic from SpecialTeas

Very sweet and full-bodied. Pretty much a perfect green.

China Golden Monkey (Fujian) from SpecialTeas

Strong, but not too strong, and with a lovely sweet finish. Can’t ask for a better Golden Monkey!

Himalayan Mountain Tips (No. 351) from SpecialTeas
80

Almost a Darjeeling, but usually less expensive. Hurray for Nepal! I think I got the infusion time a bit high this go round, but was only a bit short of inspiring.

Makaibari FTGFOP1S 2nd Flush Organic (No. 417) from SpecialTeas
77

Of course, it’s brilliant. Helps that I’ve visited. :-) I think the infusion time should be a little less next time. I don’t remember what Lucky and I figured out for the magical time.

Tamaryoku-cha (No. 657) from SpecialTeas

Quite nice. Maybe a little shorter infusion time next time. Is going quite well with some Marilyn Keiser pipe organ music. :-)

Pu Erh Tuo Cha (Birds Nest) (No. 590) from SpecialTeas
62

As usual, it kept getting better the longer I left it in (think >15 min.). When it gets as black as engine oil, it’s about ready. :-) The only downside is that it’s not as warm by that point. I wonder if they’d let me bring a tea warming stand and candle to work…

Fine Ti Kuan Yin Oolong (No. 511) from SpecialTeas
51

Always tasty and relaxing, never particularly inspiring. Could have gone for a slightly longer infusion this time.

Formosa Green Pi Lo Chun (TT61) from Upton Tea Imports
67

My dad decided to add mint to the infusion. I would have preferred it without, but it was still pretty good.
