Tea and family/friends

Definitely the black sheep, but thoughtful husband doesn’t pooh-pooh my obsession and humors me when I stick a mug under his nose and say, “You gotta taste this!” Teenage son has tried a variety or two and insists he’d like to be a tea drinker, but hasn’t landed on a variety he can’t exist without. All that Mountain Dew must have burned off his taste buds.

My local tea shop has a blend that is supposed to taste like a mojito (except it has cucumber and no rum…) so I’m going to make some double strength, add some rum, and take it over to my aunt’s for Christmas, then all they have to do is pour it over ice. I doubt many people will like it. Oh well. More for me. ;)

I’m definitely the odd one but to each his own. They’re coffee people.

My friends and family members are all occasional teadrinkers (it’s a culture thing).
They are very sweet about my obsession. I get comments about my collection, but it’s only jokes and questions. I got one friends who shares my passion for tea, and we exchange tea and so very often :)

There used to be a wonderful tea cafe (for lack of a better term) not to far from me. They served Harney and Son teas and you could get high tea or even lunch. When my daughter was 15 or so and very into heavy metal (spiked wild colored hair, big baggy pants, black nail polish etc.) she asked me if we could go there. We went and we got stared at but once they saw how loving she was (and still is) to me and how well she drank her tea and tea sandwiches, napkin in lap no less, all these ladies just smiled . Now she is 22 drives to Harney and Son whenever she can with her boyfriend. Her hair is no longer crazy colored, her cloths have changed but the tea lover remains.

My mother is an enthusiastic tea drinker. My sister drinks coffee (and heaven forbid you get between her and her morning cup). My father drinks coffee. As to non-family, I have a lot of Indians and Chinese co-workers and most of them drink tea.

Besides my Mother drinking a cup of decaf Lipton tea in the am, I’m the black sheep.

I work with 2 ladies who drink this herbal brew. It stinks. It stinks like cat pee and they like to leave it near me.

I am definately the black sheep. My family are all tea drinkers but all they will drink is bagged Lipton with lots of milk and sugar. I’m so used to drinking loose leaf now that I can’t stomach the stuff.

Black sheep? Who me? Is she talking about me? Okay, well yes I would say. My father is straight pop. My mother was sun ice tea on a summers day. My sister wets her cup a little (LOL, that did not sound right). My step mother is a chai latte (powder mix). As for my step brothers there is no way to bring them to a watering hole full of tea. They rather go thirsty then take a drink. My wife enjoys tea, but not to the investagitve length that I do. For handle it like sensory at work or sampling wine. LOL Do not worry, because I still do know how to enjoy a cup of tea.
