My first blended infusion
I just made my first pot of tea that I blended myself and it is wonderful, or at least, I think it is. Teatulia Green Tea with snipped, dried lemongrass and dried lavender buds. It produced straw yellow color with dainty undertones of the 2 flavors.
Does this sound right and/or did I do this correctly?
If you think it’s wonderful then you did it right. There is no right or wrong, just results that you enjoy or your don’t. Sound like you are off to a good start. Good luck with your exploration of blending teas…. :))
Sounds delicious! I should try steeping fresh herbals & flowers sometime.
I’ve been thinking about doing some of my own infusions, for certain teas/hot drinks I’d want alot but don’t have much $$ to buy mass quantities of already blended stuff. (Like Guayusa.)
Do you use other teas to blend? or the herbs and stuff themselves? With Guayusa been thinking of starting out using vanilla pods but what are other ways that I can get the vanilla flavor? Preferably organic sources, and without the addition of high fructose corn syrup.
This morning I used a black tea licorice blens from a local seller. But I want more flavor so I might try star anise. I love to play with tea.
Ill mix both whole herbs or two teas together. I dont always like it but sometimes the result is divine.
I have blended plain Lapacho tea with Lemon Myrtle from David’s Tea. Lapacho on it’s own had a nice woodsy taste but needs more punch. It blended great with the Lemon Myrtle. I bet the Lemon Myrtle could successfully blend with a lot of plain teas: rooibos, black, green….
I forgot about that…I’ve blended Lemon Myrtle, Three Lemon Green (Both of those from David’s Tea.) and Sun & Cloud Mist (52Teas.)
It was fairly good, made it alot more lemony but not mouth puckering tart.
A few years ago my family went to Australia to visit my oldest daughter while she was at the University of Melbourne getting her masters degree. She was there for three years. I fell in love with all things lemon myrtle! They have lotions, shampoos, and any thing else you can think of. I loved their Lemon Myrtle tea. I haven’t found any here that is as good. I think the ones I’ve tried here aren’t as fresh. Maybe they have been sitting around in stores too long. I wasn’t into loose leaf at that time,so should probably try online since theirs might be fresher. Lemon myrtle- more lemony than lemon. (that how most description describe it) :D
