DavidsTEA Timolino

i got my timolino back in winter and always had hot/warm tea but now since its summer, i was wondering if i steep the tea in hot water and put the timolino in the fridge right after. will it damage the timolino or no?

I doubt it will hurt it. Metal doesn’t shock with temp changes the way non pyrex glass will and the cooling in the fridge will be gradual. Might want to leave the lid ajar so it doesn’t build up weird pressure tho.

Are you trying to get cold tea? You could just steep in cold water overnight. It doesn’t taste exactly the same though. Or you could chill the tea in a regular container and pour into your timolino to keep cool.

Just ignore me if I’m saying something you already know, but I’m not sure what your intent is…
The timolino is insulated. Outside temps take a lot longer to affect the liquid inside. Even if you put it in the fridge, it will take a long time for your drink to get cold.

I also agree with Dustin, it won’t hurt to put your timolino in the fridge, even when it’s filled with hot tea.

thanks, i just wanted iced tea and i dont have ice at home so i just want to chill it asap

Cold brewing does make tea taste different, but I have run into several teas that I think actually taste better brewed that way. I often cold brew a whole pitcher at a time.

I tried putting my DT Timolino (technically the Carry model) with hot tea in it in the fridge.
I think it took almost 2 days for the tea to get cold and it still wasn’t ice cold. I think it would be faster to let the cool first, then add it to a chilled timolino.

The timolino 16 oz. were just added to the sale page — 40% off! I got 2 more. I’m a total timolino addict. Also got one with a handle (on sale, too), which I haven’t tried before but I saw reviewed positively here in steepster. I wish the small ones would go on sale, too. They are not as useful to me, but I am a sucker for new colors.

I typically make a pitcher of hot tea, chill it in the refrigerator and then pour some into my timolino (or david’s carry mug) overnight to bring it to work for cold tea without ice. And thanks for the tip on the mugs Grrrlhowdy – just ordered another one for myself too.

I ended up getting a timolino for myself and my Hubby. I considered the carry mugs, but neither of us commute to work so a handle isn’t absolutely necessary… although when I’m carrying it a bunch of stuff from the car it would be handy. Wish I’d seen the sale sooner as I might have preferred other color choices if they had them, but for 40% off, I can’t complain.
