From 52teas

This is another blend that I will not be able to recreate, so get it while it lasts! I had some single estate teas that I wasn’t sure what else to do with, so I blended them all together and then decided to add a little Bai Mu Dan to the mix as well. When I was satisfied with the blend, I thought for a while and decided it needed apricot, so I added real dried apricots and natural apricot flavors.

The result is a blend of Bai Mu Dan (white tea), Ti Kwan Yin (Chinese oolong), Formosan (Taiwanese) oolongs, Formosan (Taiwanese) Long Jing (Lung Ching/Dragonwell) Green Needles (green tea), real dried apricots and natural apricot flavors. Beyond that, the result is simply heaven in a cup. The green, white and oolong teas marry well together and the apricot is a succulent and delicious accent to this amazing fusion of teas. You are seriously not going to want to miss out on this one.

Because of when I placed an order with 52teas, there was a bit of a delay, and it took me a month to receive my order. But! Because of the delay, they sent me a bag of Apricot Fusion to make up for it and it more than does!

This is a lovely, fruity, flavourful tea that smells lovely and tastes even better. I’m always pleased when I fine a tea that needs no sugar or milk and this is certainly one of those teas. The ‘tea’ and the apricot flavours blend nicely together. One does not overpower the other and I’m really pleased with the combination of tastes.

Excellent tea, and I think it was lovely that the people of 52teas sent it to me because of the delay! I already placed a new order with them and I’m looking forward to it!

For a gal that doesn’t like fruit teas much I still get tempted by Franks concoctions. So I picked this one up and I have to admit I was surprised. It definately tastes like apricot but it too has a bubble gum smell and finish to it which for me isn’t a good thing. If that flavor wasn’t there I would give this one even a higher score. Keep in mind it doesn’t deter me from drinking it. It tastes sweet and refreshing. I am glad I got it and would recommend it to others.

I’ve taken a while to review this one, because I was kind of abusing it before now. I put it in my tea-filter travel mug and just let it steep until I was done drinking the cup. This resulted in a cuppa very very oversteeped tea. Some teas can hold up to the tea travel mug, but not this one. Alas.

Anyway, sitting down to a cup of this while working on a long paper. Sniffing this brewed, I can definitely smell the apricot. But it’s a gentle, non-dominant taste that actually goes really well with this combination of different teas. I’d say this is a good one for those who are on the fence about drinking anything other than plain teas, as it’s got a very mild fruitiness to it. I like it- don’t love it, but it’s pleasant enough and seems to be good at soothing sore tummies.

Finishing off the bag today with some fresh peaches, coconut yogurt and the first sunny evening since March! Still amazed I got a third infusion even after I ate the apricot pieces. XD

It was so nice waking to Apricot Fusion this morning! (Thank you, Breville, for adding a timer!) Last night, when I opened the package, I could smell the fruitiness. It was a clean scent that mingled nicely with the grounding smell of tea. I was really excited about this tea, having tried another of 52Teas’ flavors, and not having been disappointed.

I wasn’t sure at all how long to let it steep, or at what temperature, so I picked one between green/white tea and oolong temps. 180 for 1 min 30 sec. When I came downstairs, my kitchen smelled heavenly.

So, I take a sip, expecting fruitiness, but it was quite muted from what I could smell. I take another and the same. I almost get a vegetal taste mixed in. Kind of asparagusy. Not a great mix for apricot. Still, something compels me to continue sipping. As I sip, I find that I’m enjoying it more and more. It’s nice. It’s not what I had hoped for, but it’s still good. I’ll try it again with a lower temp and a longer steep time.

Sipdown! Well darn… I actually like this one. Apricot flavouring is another one that 52teas does well (I also like my Apricot Shou Mei Cheesecake), and this tea is no exception. Juicy apricot flavour and a bit of creaminess as well – the apricot flavour lingers on the palate long after I finish a sip, too. I did mess up the base a bit – I assumed this was a white and brewed it as such; it probably should have been brewed as a green due to the long jing, but oh well, it didn’t suffer too much, just a bit of bitterness (and to be honest, I probably could have added a bit more water and eliminated that).

Anyhow, it’s too bad this tea is gone, because I probably would have like to have some around. Thanks for sharing some, Sil!
