Bonne Nuit

Black Tea by Lupicia

(Original text in Japanese)

Imagine a fruit cocktail you drink on a night in Ginza, this is a luxurious black tea with the aroma of champagne and red fruits. Wonderful to drink it iced, just like a cocktail.

Ingredients: Black tea, dried cassis, dried cranberries, dried blueberries, Arazan sugar (sugar, corn starch), peppermint cut, cornflower, flavouring, silver flakes, gum arabic

Preparation: steep in boiling water for 3-5 minutes

Bonne Nuit can only be found in the Ginza (Japan) store of Lupicia. Thanks my dear cousin Roger for getting me this! :)

This tea has the aroma and flavours of berries and grapes. The fruity notes are strong and clearly overpower the taste of the tea leaves. I should have followed Lupicia’s suggestion and drunk it iced, because it really tastes like a fruit cocktail! It would be a refreshing summer party drink when iced. And if you drink it hot – just imagine drinking a hot fruit cocktail – it is not entirely unfeasible but well, a bit strange after all. These days I have been thinking of buying Tea Forte’s brewing pitchers for iced tea, and now I have made up my mind to do so because this tea needs them! ;) Will update after I have tried this tea iced!

I finally have tried this tea iced! As expected, it’s more delicious when it is iced – just like grape soda, but minus the carbon dioxide and fat! My choice of picnic drink! ;)
