From Mighty Leaf Tea

Made with black tea and superfruit Acai, this fruity and decaffeinated black tea blend combines antioxidant-rich pomegranate and Brazilian Açai (ah-sigh-ee) berries with rich black tea leaves. The tart notes of pomegranate are balanced by the slightly blueberry and chocolate notes of açai for a rejuvenating infusion. Açai berries, hailing from Brazil are known for possessing more antioxidants than pomegranates or blueberries and are also rich in omega fats.

I have a big bag of this, so I brewed up a pot this morning. I’m not too excited about this tea. Maybe I brewed with too many leaves. It’s bitter despite the short steep and tastes a bit like unripe fruit. A spoonful of agave nectar makes it tolerable, but still unripe. I guess in the future I’ll keep my tea as tea, pomegranate as fruit or juice, and acai as a berry!

Very disappointing. The Acai Black tea is fantastic, I thought this would be a comparable but decaf tea. How wrong I was. It has none of the nice fruity bouquet of the caffeinated version, and has an unpleasant bitterness to it, yet manages to be somewhat flavourless. All in all not a good tea. Stick to the caffeinated version.
