Mate seemed like a good idea due to the caffeination effects. Mmm, caffeine. Ahem. It tastes really good! I had a couple hot sips before I added a little honey, and the spices are what you taste. I don’t even really taste the mate. I added maybe 1ml of honey to my mug, but I don’t think I will for the next mug. Sniffing the tea, it’s warm and comforting. It’s essentially a masala chai, but with mate and green tea instead of Assam.
This really isn’t something I would have reached for in a store, so I’m glad I get to try it! I think I’ll put it on my shopping list, at least so I remember to smell it.
