drank Maple Sugar by Tea Guys

My non tea drinking husband liked this one, that says a lot. I am a maple lover, I lived in Vermont for 7 years and even though maple wasn’t like a huge part of my existence there, it’s special to me as a symbol of that time. So I tried this without high hopes and IT’S SO GOOD!!! I love that I can still taste the black tea base but there is totally a mapley warm sweet flavor to this! I imagine this as a latte made with vanilla almond milk and with some sugar on a cold rainy Sunday. Daydreaming…

I drank this one at the movie theater over the weekend watching Beauty and the Beast :) The thing I like about Tea Guys, well there are a lot of things, but one of the main things is that you can still taste the tea. It isn’t so dense with artificial flavors that you don’t know you’re drinking tea, you can even tell what kind of tea is in the base. This one…I got the chocolate flavor and I got a hint of the nuttiness but I didn’t quite get the toffee. I think toffee is a hard flavor to capture without sweetness so maybe if I added sugar I would get it. I did like this though, and I have some more so I will try with a tiny bit of sugar next time.

Flavors: Chocolate, Nutty, Tea

With this tea, I get a lot of bitter flavors, which makes sense with the cranberry and citrus. I actually LIKE overbrewed black teas for their bitterness and I drink my coffee black, but I didn’t find the orange/cranberry mix to be cozy. I do get a little bit of the cinnamon flavor, which I think rounds it out better. I don’t think the hibiscus helps this tea, the flavors are already bitter enough I think the hibiscus just makes it more so. I was also hoping for that fresh baked flavor that you get in a lot of dessert teas and didn’t quite find it. Again, I don’t dislike it but I also won’t be purchasing a large amount.

drank Nutty by Nature by DAVIDsTEA

I find it so odd that this tea is named for it’s nuttiness yet the first ingredient is apricot. I was hoping for a warm, toasty, creamy taste and while there is a warmth to it, it’s mostly fruity. I think the monk fruit adds a sweetness that I also didn’t expect with this tea. I don’t dislike it, but the name is a bit misleading. I understand that there are nuts/nut flavoring in it, but it’s not the first flavor you get on your first sip.

I’m not going to say this is my favorite tea, but of the other teas in my office this one has a label that says “medium caffeine” while the others say “low caffeine”. I’m trying to ween myself off of caffeine, and as much as I love my tea…I’m also a guilty coffee/energy drink drinker. This is such a painful withdrawl and I’m open to any and all suggestions you have to offer. I can promise that none of my clients/employer meetings today are getting my A Game.

TeaLady441

Aww. Maybe more tea and less coffee? Doesn’t coffee have way more caffeine than tea? And then you still get some, and good flavours?

Jackie O

I’m trying to do more tea, less coffee…I usually have a cup of coffee each day (sometimes 2) and an energy drink when I get home, so thats about…350-400mg of caffeine each day. So far today I’ve had 2 cups of black tea, which is like 80mg total…it’s such a crazy difference in caffeine content! I’m realizing that these next few days may be tough, but THANK GOD for tea friends and Steepster, and also tons of delicious tea flavors!!

Dexter

IMHO, you should reduce slowly, caffeine withdrawal is real, nasty headaches etc. If you need to cut back, I would do it slowly on work days and maybe more aggressive on days you aren’t working. Cutting back from 400mg to 80 is not going to be fun. Maybe consider 300 for a couple of days 225 for a couple of days, etc until you get down to a level that you are comfortable with….

Shmiracles

yup agreed here! definitely taper.
and drink lots of water too.
also, i’ll just add another encouraging note, if you ask me cutting down on caffeine was probably one of the top healthiest changes i made in my life over the past 5 years. so there really is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Jackie O

Thank you so much, tea friends! I’ve been drinking a ton of water and it helps so much, and once I was really immersed in work for the day the headaches subsided a bit. I have a 4:30-8:30 shift after work today for my job at MAC, so I think I might try a half caf coffee or something to help me through that, I think it’s going to be a slow night there.

sipping this delicious little treat while catching up on paperwork and anticipating my birtday…which is Saturday…I’m not the kind of person to try to keep their birthday quiet. Anyway, such a delicious treat and the weather here got milder but just for today…never too hot for hot tea anyway.

drank Jumpy Monkey by DAVIDsTEA

Some of you know but some don’t…I have been in the process of switching jobs over the past month and things have been VERY hectic. My swap recipients, I haven’t forgotten about you, I’m sorry it seems like I have (ummm because you don’t have your tea yet) but it will be on it’s way shortly.

I’m sitting at my new desk in my new office (which I don’t share with anyone and have therefore decorated with bright colors, flowers, and of course and MASSIVE selection of teas and a kettle for days like today!). It’s like 100 degrees in Northern Vermont today but my office is like an ice box, I’m totally not complaining, this rocks. So I’m organizing the files that I’ve inherited with a cardigan on sipping some Jumpy Monkey!!

I haven’t had any caffeine yet today so this is exactly what I needed. A nice strong, rich, smooth flavor with a spicy nuttiness that I just love. I can see this being my go to for first thing in the morning when I get to the office. Really just wanted to post an update because I miss Steepster and I didn’t want you to think I had forgotten to be drinking tea.

Lala

Congrats on your new job!

Congratulations on the job and the rockin’ a/c! :)

Got this in a swap from whatshesaid, thank you :)

I know this has a ton of mixed reviews, like it smells ok then tastes awful but works well. Well…I think it smells and tastes great and I don’t think it’s made its way through my system yet so I can’t say if it works or not. It tastes a LOT like the Aveda Calming Tea to me. It has this natural sweetness so even people who like sugar in their tea would find that they don’t with this one. I think this is relaxing and soothing, I would love this on a bleak day when my tummy is iffy…like today!

I can absolutely see myself stocking this in my collection regularly, and with the tea club promo from the Steeper I probably will do so.

ohfancythat

glad you liked it! believe me I was happy to get rid of it :)

I love sweet, decadent, desserty teas the most but I also appreciate a strong refreshing cup of green or white tea. I recently started a matcha smoothie morning, sometimes mate or black tea, then black tea and rooibos throughout the day, and whatever my little heart desires most when I get home from work!

I don’t have a rating system, I just kind of guess. I think I should make a rating system…

85-100 I want this in my cupboard always
75-85 I like it but I’m not rushing out to buy more immediately
60-75 Probably not going to want more than the sample
40-60 I don’t like this tea, I wouldn’t recommend it, and I won’t drink it again
0-40 This wasn’t even worth the sip.

Ok let’s try that for a bit now.
