I like chocolate and orange in candy form so I figured, Why not? I liked it but it was missing something. I added crushed red pepper flakes to bring out the heat a little. I don’t really like food or teas that are too spicy, but I seem to crave a little bit more spice lately. (It’s 11 degrees today) I really enjoyed it just a bit spicier. I really don’t know how much I used. The red pepper is sort of old so I think it had lost some of its heat. You’ll just have to do it by trial and error.:) I have also tried it with just a little lite vanilla soy milk. Ummm, yummy. It does have sort of a weird oil film as someone else said. For me, esthetically it’s not one I’d put in one of my fancy tea cups, maybe in a tumbler where I wouldn’t see it.
I am usually not a big hibiscus fan but for this I’ll make an exception! Lovely aroma, deep red liquor (looks awesome in a clear cup), tart and nice hot chili to top it off. There is a strong chili after taste. Yum! I know it’s not for everyone but on a cold winter day (14 degrees) it hit the spot for me. I added a bit of sweetener and it helped with the tart taste. Resteepable several times.
This is my daughter’s favorite tea so I thought I should try it. I like it but it isn’t my favorite. OK it’s not even in my top 10. Chocolaty, nutty, maybe a little coffeeish. I used about 2 tsp per 8 oz since I have noticed many of the teas from Teavana can be weak even though they have a full bodied aroma. I do like the energy without the jitters. I have a good tolerance to caffeine but I could feel the extra boost. My favorite chocolate tea is still Chocolatea from Serene Teaz.
OK, now that I’ve had it 6 times I have to say I like it more. I would probably move it up to 90 and would buy it again.
Spice of Life. What a great name! Not quite such a good tea. It’s okay, smell is good, taste is a little lacking in flavor. I was hoping for a little more spice in my Spice of Life. I am going to try blending it with some Vanilla Honey or some other things. I like it but not enough to buy again.
I tried this again several days later. I added some strawberry herbal but nothing good came from it :( I hate wasting good teas on trying to improve it. So I’m lowering my score.
As everyone else seems to say… Good aroma but very tart hibiscus flavor. Where’s the strawberry? I guess I should have read the tasting notes but I was in the store… it was on sale 75% off… It smelled good so I bought it. A mistake. Anyone have an idea of what it could be blended with that would cover the hibiscus/rose hips?
I have begun to really enjoy the dessert teas. This tea has a great aroma, a lovely nutty taste and a delicious after taste of figs. It is not overpowered by rose hips as is so often the case when they have anything with rose in it. I think it was extra good to me because it was part of the 75% off sale at Teavana. It’s not like I am in love with Teavana but 75% off… really. Ya gotta be able find something. I did have a very nice staff person help but of course I was buying a ton of stuff.
Preparation
Although I enjoyed this tea, it is not one of my favorites. The flavor is good and certainly the aroma is very pleasant. I use a little Nectresse as a sweetener, I drink it quite a bit. There wasn’t anything wrong with it but after I had Mile High Chai from the Tea Spot in Boulder, CO, I haven’t been satisfied with anything else. I would buy it again if I ran out of my Mile High Chai.
Preparation
A lovely tea with a great aroma. This tea has a lovely strawberry scent but not an artificial taste. Some strawberry teas can be overwhelming, but not this tea. Medium caffeine makes a tea I can drink almost all day. I tried it today for the first time and I am already on my 5th cup. I have a new Breville (I know I mentioned this in a previous tasting note but it is sooooo cool!) so I never have to worry about over brewing.
Preparation
I have always wanted to find a tea as good as the tea they serve at the nearby Middle Eastern restaurant. Finally I’ve found it! This seems to have finally fulfilled the feel of what I imagine the original must have tasted long ago. The mint is much more subtle than most mint teas. Very good for soothing a tummy. Makes a rich full-bodied cup with a relaxing aroma. Only moderate caffeine so I can drink it most of the day just avoiding after dinner. It can be brewed multiple times but it becomes more bitter. A famous proverb about the tea – “The first glass is as gentle as life, the second glass as strong as love and the third glass is as bitter as death…”. I do add a little sweetener. Although it is traditionally served hot, it makes a very refreshing iced tea.
