518 Tasting Notes
Interesting. I have had the empty packet of this tea from the one (free) Steepster Select box I got sitting on my desk so I’d remember it and order it if I ever placed an order with Eco-Cha for months. I never wrote a review or added it to my wish list, apparently.
And I didn’t take tasting notes today because I was sure I’d written a review before. I just don’t see it.
But this oolong has kept me company all day long. It’s been a cruddy day at work, but the tea has been excellent.
Sipdown!
I didn’t realize this was the end of my amaretto matcha until I was trying to add the last little bit to my milk this morning. I just dumped it into a 16oz 2% milk container. Not quite enough matcha but it still was yummy.
I’m debating on ordering more matcha. I need to get more calcium, and this seems an easy way to do it.
This is from my August GTT subscription, and per the packaging was picked on 1 July 2013
Ooh, nice and muscatel. I don’t always get that, even on second flush darjeelings. This one has it. I wonder what it was like when it was fresh and not a year old. I mean, it still tastes good, but I wonder if it was better a year ago? It’s hard to say. I still think I prefer 1st flush to 2nd flush, but I am enjoying this tea.
Backlog from vacation
So the first night of our vacation some wicked storms when through the town we were staying in. The first round came while we were out eating dinner and drinking beer. The second round came through starting about 3am, waking me up. I never fell back asleep because the storms just kept on coming. The power was knocked out about 5am.
Fortunately, the bed and breakfast we were staying at was prepared. Even though the hot water system didn’t work, they knew I am a tea drinker and they had hot water waiting for me when I wandered downstairs shortly after 6 because I really needed something to drink.
It turns out that one of the owners collects antique kerosene lamps. Crazy, but true. So everything was lit by these lamps, which was really cool.
Anyway, the tea handled the unknown water temperature really well. This is such a yummy tea. I’m currently all out of it, but I think this is one that I will be purchasing again soon.
This is another one that isn’t actually a tea, but is a beer made with tea! Schnozzleberry Griffin by Shorts Brewing Company, my favorite Michigan brewery.
It’s an American wheat ale with oolong and blackberries. It’s outstanding. It starts out blackberry and finishes roasted oolong.
It’s also storming like crazy now. The power has blinked at the brew pub several times. Hopefully the B&B still has power.
It’s been a night of good beer and great company.
I’m sitting at a beautiful bed and breakfast on vacation, curled up listening to it rain and sipping on this. I didn’t bring my travel gaiwan this time, so I’m enjoying it western style. Delicious. Creamy. Floral. Beautiful. This is the hands down best for seasons oolong I’ve had.
I will be ordering this for sure.
Glad to hear you enjoyed this one! I love gardening; I have a massive Gardenia bush right next to my door. Because the Gardenia was blooming while I was tasting this tea, I can’t tell if the Gardenia I taste in the tea is really there, or if it is just in my memories of the tea!
I couldn’t say if it was Gardenia for sure, but it’s definitely floral. Of course, now I’m out of the sample that I had, so I can’t try again to identify it.
I need to order more. This will give me an excuse to order more tea, and to get the teas that I liked from the (Mostly) Unflavored TTB that I didn’t want to order on their own.
When you place your order, just write your username Cheri and a couple samples that you would like to try. :)
I just got the order today. Woo! I’m excited. I think I’ll have the four seasons tonight after dinner for my first session with my new tea pet. The envelope was pretty damaged during shipping and torn open on one end. There were the four teas I ordered and three samples. Since I only requested two samples, I assume the third was a treat, and that nothing was lost. Thank you so much!
Yep, looks like all the teas arrived! I’m sorry to hear about the envelope, can you see if any of the tea packages (or tea) got damaged?
These things happen occasionally. No worries! Where it did rip the worse was on the ends, so it might be worth it to reinforce those with tape?
Tea therapy! Hope tomorrow is a better day, bad work days stink. :(
