I just placed yet another 16oz order of this tea — yes, I’m going through it like crazy. I made a few discoveries re: this tea this past month that I thought I’d share here:

1. You can oversteep this. I hadn’t thought you could, but the other day at work I forgot that it was steeping (either 1st or 2nd steep) and it came out astringent. Still drinkable, but it was the first time that I wrinkled my nose at it. Subsequent steeps were fine.

2. I’ve been using the Finum Permanent Filter to steep my tea — it’s great. Anyhow, I was noticing that all the green/white tea would float to the top. The easiest/least messy way to deal with that is that I really swirl my spoon around in the water to mix in the honey, and while it swirls I lower the filter in at an angle. This submerges the tea beautifully, and by the 3rd steep it’s a good blend. I also shake the filter over the cup after steeping to blend the teas more and get excess water out.

That’s all — exciting, I know ;)

I’m still drinking this almost non-stop in my 18oz mugs along with my echinacea tea — and so far (knock on wood) I’ve remained healthy despite my weakened immune system (and working with the public)! I had another blood test today, so if there’s anything worth mentioning when I get the results, then I’ll share them here. NE

Am yet again thoroughly enjoying this tea! I think that I should bump up the rating a bit from 81 :)

But here’s the photos of the tea sets that I received yesterday. All I know about them is that my grandpa brought them back from Japan in around 1945. Sorry for the poor quality of some of the images (my dad wanted his tripod back). I’ll only post three links to my photostream, but feel free to look at all of them — especially take a look at the “geisha cups.”

Set One: https://secure.flickr.com/photos/rabstea/7624243696/in/photostream

I grew up hearing about my grandpa’s “geisha cups.” I never realized they were tea cups until yesterday. I was absolutely stunned when I held one up to the light (I thought the geisha name came from the raised portion of the image which you can see in another pic in the photostream): https://secure.flickr.com/photos/rabstea/7624251968/in/photostream/

And the second set: https://secure.flickr.com/photos/rabstea/7624276946/in/photostream

If y’all have any sort of information on any of the sets (any aspect: the stories depicted, the techniques for how they were made, their name, etc) I’d truly truly appreciate it!

ashmanra

Oh, Rabs! Those are amazing!

Rabs

Thank you :) My dad offered them to the people who were buying their home before asking me if I wanted them!!! Thankfully they said no.

What can I say? I love this tea. Depending on how I scoop it, I get a slightly different tea every time. I also love how honey gives it another layer of nom. I was going to write a note on a Celestial Seasonings antioxidant tea that I’ve been adding to this tea’s steeping once this tea starts to lose flavor — I’ve kinda stopped doing that, at least for now. But this particular CS tea isn’t on Steepster yet and I just didn’t have the energy to add it — I blame my mono energy-drain.

On a side-note: I spent most of the day with my parents. They showed me a few items that they’re putting in their upcoming estate sale that I’d never seen before: two amazing tea sets. They wanted to know if I’d like them. Ummm…YES please :) So tonight or tomorrow I hope to take some nice pics of them and share them with y’all. I hope that I can capture the most amazing feature on some of the tea cups — it’s a decorative element that I’ve never seen on a tea cup. I’m hoping that maybe someone here knows something about them/their style. How’s that for a teaser? ;)

ashmanra

I can hardly wait! Get those pics posted so we can start guessing!

Rabs

I’m finally up and moving and will dig out my camera equipment as soon as I finish lunch! I received clarification last night from my dad that it was my grandfather who bought the two sets in 1945.

Hi Steepsterites! I dropped-off Steepster yet again, but this time around I didn’t stop drinking tea too. The circumstances of my tea drinking, however, weren’t too groovy: after three rounds of strep about a month-apart each, I was hit with a very rough case of mono. I was close to going to the hospital-type mono. As my doctor kept telling me that I needed to really push liquids and that my white blood cells were outta whack (and my immune system would be not-so-good for about 6 months) — I realized that I had a great tea to help with all of that: This Tea!!!

And then I checked my tea cupboard and there was no Cancer Fighting Tea! I’d forgotten that I had been trying to sip-down the size of my cupboard and had decided not to purchase more tea until it was under control. Well, I promptly broke that self-imposed rule and bought 2 bags of this. I just wish that I would have done it sooner during my illness!

My throat was so sore that I added honey to this and it was just so soothing. I couldn’t even tell you how many cups-a-day I had of this — but I probably had a 16oz cup every hour of the day. Between trips to the kitchen and then trips to the restroom, well, I think this tea helped start building up my strength — it was the most walking (well, more like shuffling) I’d done for weeks.

When I went back to the doctor a little over a week later — my throat was better, my lymph nodes were finally shrinking more significantly, and my white blood counts were back to where they should be (the doctor was impressed). I have to admit that at night I was drinking Celestial Seasonings’ Echinacea Complete Care (I’d read that echinacea is supposed to help the lymphatic system) so maybe that combo was what really worked.

One other note: I had a small problem with my order and I contacted the company (Daniel) via the website and almost immediately received a very thoughtful and considerate response. I cannot fully express what wonderful customer service The Georgia Tea Company provides. I’ve placed a subsequent order and it was perfect (and a bit generous on their part). I will be happily placing another order in the next month or so (since I’m drinking this tea like it’s going outta style).

JacquelineM

Oh Rabs! Mono! I’m glad that you are on the mend, and I hope you get stronger each day. xoxo

ScottTeaMan

So glad your back Rabs, and getting better! :D

Rabs

Thank y’all so very much! This has been an utterly…painful and frustrating illness just because it hit so hard and it’s going to take a long time to recover. Unfortunately I won’t be drinking a whole lot of variety tea-wise, but by golly I’m going to try and get on here more often. Y’all will just get tired of seeing notes on this particular tea — I’ll try and keep it exciting :)

I ♥ NewYorkCiTEA

Rabs, so happy to see you on here again. =) And v glad you’re starting to feel better.

Thanks chrine! I’m trying to keep up on steepster, but I get so easily distracted (especially by shiny objects and puppies) ;)

So, it’s my second day-in-a-row to return to this tea, and I think that I figured out why I keep returning for more: it’s like a different cup of tea every time! I mean, the basic “profile” is the same, but depending on what I scoop out it tastes a little different. So today it’s more jasmine, whereas yesterday it was more red bush. I like this aspect a lot. Decided to mix it up a bit and bring this to work (considering how sick everyone seems to be I thought it might be a nice boost to my system). Several coworkers asked to smell the bag and both said that they liked it. This surprised me since I do find it quite a medicinal fragrance — who knew? I’m thoroughly enjoying this without honey today. NE

KeenTeaThyme

A cuppa sans sugar/sweetener?! Are you feeling all right?! ;)

Rabs

I haven’t posted on here for quite some time, but here’s the dichotomy of me: I LOVE LOVE LOVE sweet things, but I like my teas without anything added. Weird, but true :) So for me to add honey to my tea is somewhat controversial in my mind ;)

ScottTeaMan

Here’s something perhaps more controversial. I LOVE tea! I never drink it when I’m sick (flu). That’s the only time I use to drink it when I was a boy. So I’m glad I grew out of the “tea when sick” phase. Now I enjoy tea (almost) anytime I want! :))

Rabs

I hardly drank tea at all as a tyke, but I have fond memories of my Grandmother drinking Constant Comment. Even now I go through phases of feeling rather ambivalent about tea (usually summers). But when I’m in a tea phase – woah!

ScottTeaMan

When I got a little older I drank tea with my Grandfather….fond memories!

KeenTeaThyme

I usually don’t add, either – just teasing a fellow (sugar) addict. I do add to spicier teas (I think it brings out the flavor) and tarter teas, to balance the hibiscus-ness.

ScottTeaMan

I’m not all that Keen on hibiscus. :))

Rabs

I’ve only tried a hibiscus-ey tea once. I looked like a toddler who tried his/her first bite of a pickle. ::shudder BLECH:: ;) And I totally did the spoonful of sugar last night. Ugh. I think I’m craving Christmas Cookies.

Last night I discovered a whole stash of tea that I’d forgotten about post-move. My new place has three kitchen cabinets dedicated to being my “tea cupboard.” I LOVE having space for my tea!!!!! Two of the cabinets are for tea alone and the third is for all the utensils/pots that aren’t on my counter :)

So I about fell over when I discovered two decorative boxes filled with teas pushed back to the back of my pantry. One contained nothing but my last Georgia Tea Company order still in their original bags — so I was very nervous about how well they’ve held up over time. Turns out this one handled it quite well!

I grabbed this one because I’m still trying to get over this nasty head cold and hey, it’s full of good stuff for me. I also did something that I hardly ever do, and I added honey to my tea (trying to help with the throat). Turns out it’s a very beneficial addition! It sort of brings out all the more fruity tastes within this very medicinal blend – so me likey. I may continue adding honey to this even post feeling-pookie. NE

Well whaddaya know? I’m actually drinking something besides Jasmine #9, Weight Loss, or Rosy Earl Grey and I’m writing a note! It’s gonna be a short one since I’m now T-minus 6 days to the GRE. My mind is swimming with Analogies, Antonyms, and other Quantitative crap (i.e. math stuffs) and I really needed some zen-like tea. I haven’t had this in awhile since the last time I steeped some, one of my brothers was visiting and he compared the smell to a certain type of liquid medicine. I needed some time to not associate it with that — it’s still hovering in the back of my mind, but I’m still enjoying it. ::sigh:: NE

I finished off my sample tonight ::cry:: and confirmed that when I order from Georgia Tea Company that this is the Cancer Fighting Tea that I’ll purchase. When I poured the last of my sample packet into the teapot I was a bit concerned by the large amount of rooibos that was in it compared to my first pot. The smell of the wafting steam as I poured in the hot water seemed more mediciney than I remembered. Ruh-roh.

But hot-diggity-darn! It’s still good :D I continue to consider this to be more “sweet floral” than the original Cancer Fighter, but I think a lot of it is the fruit. It’s like you took the vegetative aspects of a late spring meadow (blueberries included) and blended them up into a tea. The second steep didn’t morph as beautifully as the first time I had this, but I’m thinkin’ that it’s because this was so rooibos-heavy. Healthy yummers. NE

I must admit that for the entire first cup I gave this tea the ole hairy eyeball. There’s a lot going on and I just didn’t know how to even begin to write a note about it. I always think that I like the idea of lavender, but in reality I always wrinkle my nose at lavender toiletries. And there’s rooibos. Rooibos and I aren’t the best of friends. I waver between thinking “medicinal” and “ooh — flowery meadow.” It walked a very fine line between floral and potpourri (both the dry and steeped leaves fell on the potpourri side of things). Near the end of the first cup I practically had half of my face shoved into the mug trying to get more aroma as I drank. There’s this great little “oh hai — I’m blueberry” trying to come through. It smells like a meadow full of wildflowers. And rooibos.
::hairy eyeball::

Okay, so this is only my second Georgia Tea Company sample (thank you Daniel Mann!), but I’m thinking that there may be a trend here: the second steeps are faaabulouuusss. I added a minute to the steep time and I think I spent most of that steep with my eyes closed. It was like I was drinking a late spring meadow. ::sigh:: Part of the reason I love Lapsang Souchongs is because I feel like a fire breathing monster while I drink them. Well, this tea took me to an alternate universe where I’m a flower breathing monster. I’m actually attempting a third steep (maintained 6 minutes). It’s definitely more watery, but still yummy. I really would love to try this cold brewed. This may be the first time I’ve split my personal ratings: first steep NE, second steep TG.

ha! My customers in the teashop would always say that tea smelled a looked like potpourri. The regular version of this tea is more floral, you may not like it. In fact, I made the blueberry version for all those people who don’t like floral as much and wanted a more fruitier taste.

Ewa

♥ @ flower breathing dragon!

Rabs

@Daniel: Oh my — I am now incredibly excited to try the regular version (I loves me some floral) but I’ve tried my share of “potporri inna cup.” I loved the berryness that played around in this one and I guess that I didn’t give it much credit in my review. This was truly a unique tea and I had a difficult time writing about it (I keep thinking of things that I could’ve also said like the fact that this lavender was one of the nicest that I’ve experienced). I just know that I’ll be purchasing more in the future unless the original kick’s this one’s hiney :)

@Ewa: I tried to come up with a “Godzilla-esque” monster name such as “Flowerah” but none of them amused me more than the straight-up flower breating monster ;)

I used up the last of my sample today but didn’t have quite enough left for a pot. So I mutated it a bit and added some Samovar Russian Blend to it. I had a fixed car to celebrate (see below for details on that) and wanted to break the possible “curse-o-Samovar.” Plus I’d forgotten to put Lapsang Souchong on my GTC order and the uber-fantastic Daniel Mann added some to my order after noticing my oversight. More celebration! This is actually one of the best “mutant teas” that I’ve done — but hey, two yummy teas comprise this cup. It’s about 1& a half tsp LS and 1 tsp RC. TG

The car is fixed — I get to pick it up at 1:00! It had a bad computer and I’m still under warranty ::happy dance:: And since my insurance covers towing the grand total of this stress is $65. The $65 comes from the first shop it was towed to for them to say “we don’t know what’s wrong with it” which is exactly what happened the last time they looked at my previous car. Only back then they’d caused massive damage to my break system that could’ve killed me. So why did my car even end up there? My dad: gods bless him. He believes they’re great because they’re “Christian.” But I can’t get too upset since my Dad’s the one who took care of everything when my car wouldn’t start and he also let me drive his car to work for most of this week. When I found out that he’d towed the car to that shop and not Toyota I let him know I wasn’t too happy about it. I shall try and figure out a way to let him know tactfully that I never ever want any of my cars going back to that place. I’ll also be adding rental car coverage to my insurance policy asap.

Thank you to everyone who said a little prayer or sent me good vibes since Monday. Y’all are awesome! :D

Thanks! I think that I shall wait for sometime after Father’s Day to have that chat. ;)

Oh, glad the cars better.

I think that you and I both have the Lapsang Souchong bug. I think you read my note on my outrage that I got one without any taste at all (from The Tea Farm) but most of them are very good. Adagio has a good one and so does Leland—I don’t know if I reviewed them.

Rabs

Oh, I definitely and most delightedly have the bug. My first Lapsang Souchong was from Adagio. At the time I thought that I’d only want LSes on rare occassions since it was sooo intense. Now most mornings I reach for them first! I need to check out Leland’s.

What a great way to start my day! I actually slept in past 10am (gone are the days where I could sleep ‘til 1 or 2 in the afternoon ::sigh::). I’m getting a lot more of the sweetness in the first steep this time around. I also drank most of my first cup while having pizza and it paired really well with it. I only have enough left for one more pot so I need to get crackin’ and really try the rest of my Georgia Tea Company samples that the generous Daniel Mann sent to me because there will be an order as soon as I get my mid-month paycheck. Warning: I’m on a bit of a tea high so I might start waxing poetic. You have been warned.

I came home from a stressful day at the library to find two packages in my mailbox. One was my Teafrog samples/JOEmo traveler, and the other was this box of samples from the very generous Daniel Mann. When I popped open the Georgia Tea Company box I was hit with the wonderful aroma of teas. ::sigh:: Immediately I grabbed the Lapsang Souchong since I know that I will judge Georgia Tea Company first and foremost on their LS. They fail this one and it’s an upward battle for me to like any of their other wares. Harsh, but true.

I think that the only other LS that has come close to having this large amount of smokiness with their dry leaves is Adagio. I got excited. The cup has a wonderful aroma and stays true to its smokiness. First sip. My brain does the “Dur-hur” which is the beginning stages of a teagasm. I throw up some shields to make sure that my obvious tea high doesn’t color my judgement.

Halfway through the cup I realize that this isn’t the most complex LS that I’ve had, but there’s something different about it. It’s like this tea is aggressive in its “yeah, I’m a smoky black tea — you gotta problem with that?” The aspect that I’m missing is the sweet undercurrents that I get with good LSes. I finish my cup and the most amazing thing happens: a sweetness comes out of nowhere and just dazzles the back of my mouth. I must try the second steep immediately!

Oh yes, the second steep (added 1 minute). Shields drop and I just grovel in the yumminess. It’s still this smoky black tea, but the sweetness is dancing all over my mouth. It’s like a piney sweetness and utterly new to me with LSes. It’s not that typical LS sweet base. It’s like this tea is teasing my tastebuds with sweetness. There’s a hint of dryness at the back of my throat, but it’s not unpleasant. Oh yes, I love this tea. TG

I’d label this LS as a forest fire. And on the “kitty cat sound scale for LSes”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHZm52nvBB4
Yup, I’d pretty much say that the entire video about covers it (with an emphasis on the Cougar’s noises and the Serval’s nummy sounds).

On a somewhat unrelated note: we’re having our first or second Tornado Watch of the season and I had a flashback to childhood. I was probably 6 or 7 and the sirens were going off so I grabbed all my beloved stuffed animals and piled them under our coffeetable in the basement so that they’d be safe. Well, I’m sitting here and thinking about what I’d do if the sirens were to go off and I think that I’d grab as many of my teas and teaware as possible and put them in a safe spot.

Kristin

You’ve made me want to try a Lapsang Souchong. I’ve been afraid that they would taste like a bbq smoker.

Cofftea

lol it does Kristin:)

Rabs

LSes were such a pleasant revelation for me. I had read on someone’s blog that “LSes are what coffee should taste like” and that’s what made me try my first LS (the Adagio which is quite strong). And some do verge on bbq smoker. I’d highly recommend Upton’s LS Black Dragon as a first foray into the world of LS. It’s got the most depth without being insanely smoky. :)

Cofftea

If that is what coffee should taste like, I’d never drink either lol. This is one of those things I love the smell ove, but don’t care for the taste.

drank Snowflake by Georgia Tea Company
310 tasting notes

I am going to be bouncing off the walls after I finish drinking this one. I am way over my caffeine allotment for the day, but I couldn’t help it. Daniel from Georgia Tea Company sent me some samples to try and they arrived in the mailbox today. I just HAD to try this one immediately. And… I love it.

I don’t tend to drink a lot of flavored blacks because the black tea tends to overwhelm the flavor (and the other reason is the caffeine). This tea is balanced, the flavors are strong, and there is no bitterness. The vanilla and almond are rounded out by the coconut. It definitely reminds me of cookies. I don’t think this sample will last long. And, I can see why this tea is listed as ‘a Christmas favorite’. It has that sitting by the fireplace, watching it snow out the window, & drinking tea, quality.

Almost 2 tsp to 10+oz water. Steeped for only 3ish minutes because I was worried the black would go bitter. Sweetened with Agave Nectar.

Daniel sent this my way for review. Georgia Tea also has a Lavender one, which I plan on reviewing tomorrow. What DOESN’T this tea have in it!? It’s a Green Tea/White Tea/Rooibos Blend. I know why Daniel put these together – because of all of the health benefits and healing properties – also immune system boosting potential!!! I can’t say as I have ever seen a blend like this before. It’s truly unique. I can smell the different tea characteristics as well as the orange and peach flavors. A little more orange than peach but I still can pick out both. Without those two flavors I am not sure if the tea would smell very good or not…I’m thankful for the flavoring.

It does look like a Rooibos type tea/tisane liquid once infused. It’s hard to taste the white tea because, lets face it, when white tea is blended with other types of tea it’s hard to pick out, but I know it serves it’s very important purpose! I can taste the green tea taste towards the beginning of my sip and it’s a nice taste…then comes the peach and orange which work really well together. It ends with the Rooibos taste which gives it that natural sweetness that the rooibos is known for. Overall the taste is sweet. The fruit tastes are highlights and certainly a nice addition. There is so much going on with this blend I was almost afraid how it would work, but, you know, it does. It seems to work just fine and dandy and I like it – especially in the afternoon!

I’m very excited over this tea!

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

Thanks for the review, great as always. Your definitely right, the idea was to completely overshadow the white tea with a more flavorful tea so that it would be drinkable by the masses. This was developed for a friend of ours who had breast cancer and she needed something to boost her immune system while undergoing chemotherapy. After drinking the tea everyday for a few months, her oncologist asked her what she had been doing different because he ran some blood work and noticed her interferon levels were higher than a normal person who hadn’t gone through chemo, she said she had been drinking this tea and he started doing some research on it, taking her off the tea and putting her back on it until he had proved it to himself that it was the tea boosting her immune system. Til this day he recommends this tea to all his chemo patients. I get phone calls all the time from people saying their oncologist recommended Cancer Fighting Tea or Silver Needle for boosting interferon production. 1% of the dry weight of white tea is L-Theanine, which is higher than any other herb. L-theanine is a amino acid derivative, which primes the gamma delta T cells in the body to produce more interferon. Interferon is a glyco-protein which is the bodies first line of defense against bacteria. A study, published in 2003 by the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, included a four-week trial with 11 coffee drinkers and 10 tea drinkers, who consumed 600 milliliters of coffee or black tea daily. Blood sample analysis found that the production of interferon proteins was up to five times higher in the tea-drinkers, an indicator of a stronger immune response.

The worst part about chemotherapy is that it kills white blood cells and lowers the immune system. This causes patients to become very susceptible to infection. Drinking the tea will boost their immune system back up to normal and prevent infections. Not to mention that the EGCG with in the white tea is very high and has been shown to kill cancerous cells on contact in vetro.

TeaEqualsBliss

Thanks for sharing, Daniel, I am so happy this is working for your friend and many others! And it tastes good, too!!! :)

Rabs

I also want to thank you for sharing — that’s absolutely wonderful!

Georgia Tea Company sent me a little bit of this and I’m eager to try it because most weight loss teas I have tried thus far have been very herbally tasting to me. Let’s see what this is like, shall we!?

First I must say – it smells WONDERFUL! :) The Papaya and Mango really MAKE it! Tea-wise I can smell the Oolong a little more than the green as far as the actual tea aromas go.

It’s medium brown in color.

WOW! This is nice! It’s hard to describe because everything meshes together so well. The Green Tea, Oolong Tea, Papaya, and Mango all come together to form it’s own taste, really. It’s just enough fruity and wood to notice both…it’s sweet and refreshing.

I really like this especially because it tastes good AND it’s for weight loss!!!! NICE!

Er I should say the teas don’t annoy me- it’s the companies that try to get ignorant or gullible people to cave into the hype.

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

Hey gals,

I completely understand where you’re coming from on then name. I don’t like ‘hype teas’ either. The reason we came out with the health line with teas like "Cancer Fighting Tea’ and “Weight Loss Tea” is because we get nearly daily emails and phone calls from people who just read an article about tea and want to know which ones are good for weight loss or cancer or digestion or what have you. We decided to blend together a line that would take the guess work out of it for them. There is quite a bit of very reputable research done on green tea and oolong tea to show it’s abilities to aide in weight loss. In a study reported on in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, it was found that green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in energy expenditure (a measure of metabolism), plus also had a significant effect on fat oxidation. The article went on to say, "The researchers indicated that their findings have substantial implications for weight control. A 4% overall increase in 24-hour energy expenditure was attributed to the green tea extract, however, the research found that the extra expenditure took place during the daytime. This led them to conclude that, since thermogenesis (the body’s own rate of burning calories) contributes 8-10% of daily energy expenditure in a typical cubject, that this 4% overall increase in energy expenditure due to the green tea actually translated to a 35-43% increase in daytime thermogenesis. "

As with any ‘weight loss program’ it all has to do with a balanced routine of exercise and proper diet. Replacing high carb/calorie drinks like sodas, with green tea with no sugar, you are not only lowering your carb intake, but according to research, boosting your metabolism. I don’t believe in ‘diets" but only life changes. If someone, over a number of years, replaced their sodas and drank green tea with their meals, that should see a slow and gradual reduction in weight. The tea isn’t meant to be an instant weight loss supplement, but to aide in a life change.

VERY well said Daniel! :) Either way…I’m very happy with this tea…it was tasty! I Enjoyed it! LOVED that someone put together a tasty flavored – non-medicine-E-tasting Green and oolong tea tho!!! Thumbs up from me…no complaints here! :) Cheers!

Rabs

@ Daniel Mann: awesome response. Georgie Tea Co. is now on my “to try next” list :)

TeaEqualsBliss

Rabs!!!!! You will NOT be disappointed!!!! Daniel & Crew over at Georgia Tea Company are AWESOME!!!!!

Ewa

hahaha, Rabs I totally had the same reaction! Because, you know, being articulate and well spoken = good tea. (proven by science!) I am also impressed with the concept of a non-herbtastic, tasty weight loss tea. My relatives in Poland used to drink these horrific uber concentrated herbal monstrosities that were supposed to help with weight loss and I’m afraid my perception of weight loss teas has been colored by that precedent ever since.

Cofftea

I feel a Georga Tea Co. Steepster Select coming on.

TeaEqualsBliss

Yea know…I was thinking about Steepster Selection…let’s network folks!!!! Let’s get The Steepster Gurus and Daniel from Georgia Tea Company to chat about a Steepster Select SOON!!! :P

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

How does the Steepster Select work? Is there a particular process that the tea must go through before it’s featured?

Cofftea

No… thank YOU!=D

Who needs tea- just take a shot of matcha:)

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

I was just telling Tea=Bliss about a guy I know who puts matcha in his fruit smoothies… Yummy! Heh.

Cofftea

The only way I like matcha and dairy together is half OJ and half milk (I use Smart Balance milk). I’m sure I’d like matcha, milk, and chocolate- just haven’t found the right formula yet.

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

Half OJ and half milk? I would definitely want to put some vodka in that! Heh. Speaking of which, just to let you guys know, we’ve been working over the last 2 months on making tea alchohol recipes. So far we have found some really good mixes. One of my favorites has been Rooibos Rainbow and Dissarono Amaretto. Yummy! Rooibos Belgian Chocolate, milk and Kahlua, very good. Also Vodka and Cherry Kiwi is yummy, we are trying to finish the recipes and will be posting the list on our web site soon.

Cofftea

Definitely already had the vodka idea- just need to get some- matcha dreamsicle or matcha screw driver (if you forgo the milk) shots.:) I wonder how a dirty matchatini would taste? I’m thinking the olive juice would pair well w/ the green grassy, vegetalness of the matcha.

Daniel Mann - Georgia Tea Co.

Yeah, that sounds good. Now I must go drink! Haha.

Even tho I have had Rooibos in some of my others today this will be my official Rooibos of the day! Woot!

Okay…so…it’s intensely raspberry scented! I can still tell it’s a Rooibos by the smell. It’s paired with honeybush and flavoring and I can taste the flavoring as well. I’m having this warm, not hot, and I know it will be better iced…next time I will go with ICED.

This is still yummers…

This doesn’t taste bad – it’s actually quite good, however, I am not tasting that much chocolate or much other ingredients…but…it does make a GREAT Coffee alternative so I guess…mission accomplished!

TeaEqualsBliss

As it cools I can taste the coconut!

malomorgen

i find it fascinating how some teas change their flavors while cooling down…

TeaEqualsBliss

I actually like this better cool…not really iced, but cooler…

I can’t even drink Mate Chocolate without cream and sugar, I find even the toasted mate to be too bitter and earthy tasting to me. But when I add the cream it sweetens it up for me and knocks out some of the bitterness. But for people who drink a lot of mate, they seem to like it as an alternative to straight Yerba Mate. Great review.

Not sure why but this sort of smells like Pineapple. It’s a pleasant scent so I don’t mind. The dry loose leaf mixture swells quite a bit when wet. There is a little murkiness to the after-steep.

The taste is nice and even and thirst quenching and sweet even. Yup! It’s fairly juicy. I like this one the more I drink it. I’m glad there is no grassy aftertaste…or bitter aftertaste. It tastes the same from the beginning to the end of the sip.
