must admit, i had my doubts when i was presented with the idea of jazzing up my ritual pu erh with with this chocolate, raspberry and chilli pepper herbal blend. however, i can hardly imagine not having it at my fingertips now!
the chocolate and chilli are complimentary and well balanced. the raspberry is a quiet note that adds an elegant but not over powering fruit taste.
this tea receives a very favourable review from me, which i don’t give easily.
Preparation
I really enjoy this green tea. I don’t find it tastes too earthy…which I find some straight greens can. I also don’t find it’s too bland and flavourless, like some other greens.
Pleasant taste, and after-taste, no stale bitterness post cuppa… and doesn’t tend to ‘turn’ if you forget about it for a few hours and come back to it cold.
I don’t like to steep it for too long, a max of around 2mins 30secs usually is plenty.
I don’t like to use boiling water, I find stopping the kettle at the point where you just start to hear it simmering is perfect, still hot, but not too hot that you have to let it sit before enjoying.
Preparation
I’m a little nervous to try this tea because it looks like it has some things in it that I might not like. It’s mostly all about the pink peppercorns.. but I’m hoping that they won’t be too prominent. Peppercorns and I don’t go well together.
Sipping… It’s very sweet at first and actually fades into something a little bit buttery. I’m not sure that I taste sea salt or caramel — just a messy sweetness. The flavors are all muddied together and I can’t seem to pick anything out. There is something very artificial about this cup and it makes me want to stop drinking. I wish that there was something more natural about this blend, because the idea behind it is fantastic (I love caramel and sea salt… or really anything salty and sweet at the same time). It would also be nice if I could distinguish each individual flavor note… but this means that I can’t taste the pink peppercorns at all, thankfully. I won’t be finishing this cup, but thank you to Yssah for a sample of this tea!
I keep opening and closing the tin because I don’t know how to describe the dry tea smell. It’s… odd. I have no idea. Once steeped it is quite sweet. I was quite surprised when I first tasted it because it was not at all what I thought it was going to taste like. It’s okay for the most part. I can taste the subtle hints of different flavors but there’s just something I can’t quite put my finger on that makes it not very appealing. I think perhaps it is the ginger that gives it the off flavor. I love ginger but for some reason it just doesn’t mix well in this tea.
Preparation
Like another user mentioned, this tastes like spicy hot cinnamon candy. Cinnamon flavoured candy gives me a headache, and this has such a strong taste (and even smell) of cinnamon that I couldn’t take more than one sip (which makes me wary of all Teavana spicy teas). I love cinnamon used in small quantities in things like apple or pumpkin pie, cinnamon toast, or /other/ chais I’ve had, but in this one, “overpowering” is an understatement.
I really like this tea. I sweeten it often, but I’m not sure why. It tastes great without sugar (using honey tastes weird though). I think what makes it really unique is its ability to taste good at any temperature. I will often take this tea in a non-microwave-safe travel mug to work and be too busy to finish it while it’s still hot. Even in that room temperature too-warm-for-iced but too-cold-for-hot tea zone, it tastes wonderful.
Preparation
Another sample from my swap with terri.
While this is not my favourite keemun to date, this is a lovely cup of tea. There’s a bit of astringency here that isn’t my fav but it’s not overwhelming and certainly doesn’t ruin the cup. Glad to have tried this one..i will try all the teas someday.
This tastes almost exactly like Good Earth tea. So much so that I am struggling to find any other way to describe it. Super cinnamony with ginger and other spicy goodness. If you’ve had Good Earth tea, this tastes the same to me.
Preparation
Everything about this tea is lovely. The smell before and after it’s brewed, the taste, and even the color of the brewed tea. The flavor is a perfect blend of almond and other flavors to give it the cake flavor. It’s nice to have a tea that tastes like the name describes it.
First off, I’m surprised to see this is an oolong because I do not taste it. It tastes like a tisane. When I first brewed it and itwas still very hot, the rose flavor was very strong. It made me think of drinking the water from a vase of roses. As it has cooled some, the stawberry and fruit is becoming more prominent which is making it more drinkable to me. Not one I will drink on its own again, but might be good blended with the peach tranquility tea.
Preparation
This slightly resembles a few other teas I have tried such as Almond Cookie and an Almond Biscotti flavored tea. It’s pretty good. The black tea is alright – not overly strong but not totally weak, either. The Almonds are nicely done. The “Candied” almonds and roses aren’t what I would call “Candied”, really. If they are trying to upgrade their Rose Marzipan I think they really missed the mark. I’m not saying it’s BAD – I’m just saying it’s NOT an improvement – I thought their Rose Marzipan was far more superior. I’m also confused by the addition of thickening agents, beet root, and gum arabic in this flavored tea, too.
Alright but not wonderful!
When I went to convention this past weekend I got to go shopping. Alright! I went to Teavana to grab some fruity tea that would be good as an iced tea. The girl I got was nice, not real pushy about getting me to buy the tin or try smelling too many things. I went back with my co-conventioneer and her sales lady was soooo pushy about her buying the tin… to the point where it irritated me and I wasn’t the customer at the time..
Anyway, I like it. The fig is strong and it’s sweet enough not to need sugar. As it got warmer, the hibiscus came out more and it got a shade too tart. The creamyness is nice, it adds to the smell and somehow makes me think of butter. It’s good but not good enough for me to be certain I want to rebuy it.
I LOVE this tea. When I first started drinking tea I would only drink earl grey, no milk or sugar so I got pretty used to that taste. After having this tea I don’t think I can ever go back to regular earl grey. This tea has so much flavor and the “creme” part has a soft hint of vanilla. Just delicious!
That being said, I’ve been reading reviews on Teavana and it seems that they have recently changed this tea’s formulation and not for the better. I am endorsing the old formulation, not the new one.
Preparation
I had two delicious steeps of this tea this afternoon. It tastes a lot like Copabanana to me, which is definitely not a bad thing. I had a $10 off coupon with Teavana, so I got a few herbal blends to try out. So far, I’m quite enjoying them.
