I don’t particularly like how DavidsTea doesn’t list what type of tea it is, only that it’s “from the east coast of Taiwan.” It tastes a bit like Assam, with it’s malty flavor, but it’s not as strong. Although it has a distinct flavor, it tastes weak to me, lacking the tannin flavor I typically associate with black tea. I’m not getting any honey flavors, either.

I’ll have to play with the steeping time and amounts, but for now, it just tastes like a weak cup of Irish Breakfast. I’ll give it one thing—it is smooth. If you like English Breakfast (I don’t) then you’d probably like this tea. Personally, for its price point, it’s not that great.

I am very pleased with this tea. Lately the only black tea I’ve been drinking is Earl Grey, so it was time to change it up, and LaLa Lemon from DAVIDsTEA did not disappoint. The black tea has a smooth taste and isn’t bitter, even when I steeped it for a little over 5 minutes. The leaves opened up nicely and weren’t all chopped up like some are, which was nice. The lemon flavor was a delightful addition and was in no way over-powering. It actually reminds me of Twining’s Lady Grey, just a better quality.

I would definitely recommend this tea, especially to people who like Earl Grey. It has a similar taste, just heavier on the lemon and not “floral.” If you like lemon, and you like full-bodied black teas, this is a good tea for you.

drank Vanilla Black by Rishi Tea

Vanilla Bean Black—sounds absolutely delicious in theory. In actuality, it tastes like I’m drinking straight vanilla. Maybe this would be good with cream, but I take my tea black, so for me, it was completely undrinkable. I took two sips and poured the cup down the drain. Now I have a bag of tea I can’t even give away (I tried).

This is easily my favorite tea, and I drink it every day. It’s a great Earl Grey with a full-body flavor, but the bergamont isn’t overpowering. Good, solid staple.
