THIS TEA IS A GUT BOMB

I just wanted to make a review here ot mentioned it. It’s a good tea. Had a good mouth fell
and a lot of energy < cha qi >. I felt tea drunk most of the session. If I didn’t had the black
color in the cup, I’d have belived this was a raw puerh… It’s not bitter per say but it is
POTENT AS a lot of Menghai raw blends…

I did 6.6g/90ml… felt VERY ill… aproach this tea like a raw puerh… gently and with less
leaves that you would usually…

Edit: This was sampled off the transport… which sadly might have screwed me over. I’ll resamble and repost a new note in about a month.

Cheers

I"m also stuck with a full cake as I never though a ripe could gut bomb me… that what I get for cake is a sample I guess!

see the edit… I’ll resample in a couple of week / months

Good morning Steepster,

So same brewing parameter as yesterday, but even tho, I brewed this heavily, WARRIOR STYLE… this tea is ‘all about that bass’ :) It’s a very nice bassey Yunnan black tea, not any off taste nor fancy flavors, it just taste like yunnan black and has the texture of heavy cream.

Good tea all around,
Enjoy!

I must confess I bought this tea b/c I absolutely love how it looks. I’m a sucker for the bi luo chun rolled tea but last year I had the green version of this tea and it was way too green for me :) Who would have guessed. So, I brewed this ‘warrior’ style, ~5-6g in 95ml of water with short steeps. Like I would brew a puerh! The resulting liquor is POTENT, BRUTAL and Tasty, it reminds me vaguely of coffee, as it has a weight to it.

Proper review time:
Dry Leaves: Smell of milk chocolate
Wet Leaves: Cacao and Dian Hong smell.

Taste: Oh my, the first infusion have a really clear cacao after-taste, after a couple of infusion that aftertaste become dominant in the taste too. The texture is basically the same as heavy cream or jam :) As state earlier, it’s a tea to be drunk really slowly, I feel it going down into my system very clearely, and like coffee, I feel a ‘returning flavor/weight’.

Anyway, a very good tea. Drink it slowly, BREW IT HARD
WARRIOR STYLE :)

ps: Is there anything I don’t brew hard!! :)

This tea is the first one of my big hongcha order I review.

This is a really simple yet delightful hong cha. It taste everything like a hong cha should
taste. There is a bit of a cacao’ey taste and aroma comming through in the later steeps.

A good tea but nothing stellar. Cheap daily drinker…

My god,

First thanks to the awesome Phi for giving me a sample of this one.

Here is the best example I can come up with this tea, this is the bastard child between
a very sweet yiwu AND a menhai production like the New Amerikah 2. It’s not bitter
per my standard but I do not find the NA2 to be too too bitter which is to say that
I love my teas VERY punchy.

The energy that goes out of this tea is awesome, deep relaxed calm that help me
to focus. I paired this tea with some solo piano jazz and it was perfect!

I will definitvely consider a cake of it at some point!
Cheers

@steph: in the end I’m not sure I liked it… But to be honest, I’m not a fan of chocolate milk to begin with so!

This tea… ohh this tea.. This is a really nice suprise from White2Tea. For various reasons, I canceled my membership to the teaclub and they send me this month by mistake and there was a 100g gourd of this tea in it. A very lucky mistake :)

Let put this in context, I’m a really really bitter sheng fan. The New Amerikah 2 is what I wake up to some days, it used to by my favorite of all time young sheng… now it is second… That tea is mesmerising….

Oily as it coat your mouth from the first sip
Thick as it feels like motor oil
Sweet as it isn’t harsh
Bitter to have some punch but way less than my beloved New Amerkah 2
Distrubing < some calls it Cha Qi > to a point where I had trouble concentrating…

I need a tong of this one… Buy this and drink it young, it’s all worth it < at least to me >

About 2y ago, when I started daily drinking ripe puerh, the ‘gong-ting’ cakes were my favories. The are usually composed of the smallest leaves of all and not include any bigger leaves. This cake is composed only of gong-ting material. It is super good.

This morning I’ve used 7g for my 95ml gaiwan. It gave a really nice dark and creamy liquor. It still has a bit of bitterness and I would not call this a sweet ripe at all. Considering I don’t like sweet ripe, that is a good thing to me. The only thing I could say is that with all that time I’ve grown to love more bigger leaves ripe which are a little bit less one dimentional. This is by no mean a bad comment for this tea!

I’d recommend this tea to anyone that want to wet his feet in the world of ripe puerh! It is very good :D

Cheers

I’ll do a lazy review, let me just say that all the buzz around this brick is real
I should have bought more when it was cheaper!!!

jschergen

Agreed. $30 is not at all a bad price for it, but it’s still almost painful to buy more knowing it was once $15!

paxl13

@jschergen: yep… but I knew about the 2nd price raise and I said to myself, it’s no fun rebuying stuff when you can buy new stuff… Long story short, ended up buying 2 more.. I’m almost done with the first one sadly so… Anyway :D

paxl13

BTW, It’s not a bad price yet, it no more in the bargain bin at all IMO. It’s ‘correctly’ priced, which is perfect for anyone who would like to taste a good mid aged tea example!

jschergen

Yeah, I have 3 too so I shouldn’t really be complaining :). Yep, totally agree. The only reason the price is painful is because it was less in the past!

paxl13

+ the fact that I decided to stock it right after the price break shall I say :) But that’s only me :D @jschergen

yssah

what’s your first?

paxl13

@yssah 7572 CNNP Tiepai 2002 Green Mark shou from the same drug dealer :)
