From Adagio Custom Blends, Lilly T.

This is a signature blend created by Lilly T. A tea blended in honor of my mother, who loves pu-erh and spices and anise. She never adds sweetener to her tea. “Tea with Sugar” refers to her sweet and quirky flame point siamese cat, Sugar. Sugar adores Mom, and is a constant companion. He also loves anise, and has been known to get into her cabinet when she has anise-flavored cookies!

Teas: Pu-Erh Spice, Cinnamon & Cream
Accented With Aniseed & Aniseed

Ingredients: Pu-Erh Tea, Black Tea, Cinnamon, Natural Spice Flavor, Ginger, Orange, Aniseed, Natural Creme Flavor, Natural Cinnamon Flavor & Safflower

Adagio CommuniTEA – April 23rd, 2023

So this is a puerh-black blend with spices and cream flavor and anise seeds. A bit confusingly, it’s not actually meant to emulate tea with sugar or specifically to be drunk with sugar. It’s actually named after a cat named Sugar…

Anyway, it’s okay. The puerh isn’t super noticeable, as it gets covered up a bit by the cinnamon. I can tell it’s there if I search for it. The cinnamon here reminds me of the smell of those cinnamon pinecones and cinnamon brooms that grocery stores tend to carry in the fall and winter. Or maybe potpourri sort of cinnamon. I assume there’s some clove in the “spice flavor” as well. I don’t actually get a ton of anise, though it’s mentioned several times in the description.

Mostly it’s a cinnamon black tea with a bit of clove. Not a favorite for me.
