Another one from carol!
I can’t believe I waited this long to try this tea. It called to me from the first time I looked in the box. Unfortunately I messed it up by putting in too much honey, but what I could taste around the honey was amazing. It smells exactly like candied nuts from the mall or a fair. And it brews kinda pinkish which I was surprised about. I am really excited to try this one again!

Backlog. Another sample from Carol!

This is the first green tea that I have tried. I am not sure if I made it right. How do you know what temperature your water is? To me this one tasted like grass mixed with a little bitterness does that mean I brewed it too hot? It did have a little side flavor that smelled good, so I would be willing to try it agin, if it was just brewed to hot.

Digital variable temp kettle :)

Is there any way to tell the temp with a regular kettle? I am not planning to buy a new kettle right now.

Some people have written up how many minutes to let it cool to get to certain temps, I’m sure it’s on the board somewhere.

RandomlyFascinated

I’ll have to look for it thanks!

That would only really work if you boiled the same amount of water every time as they did. A small amount cools faster than a large amount. (And to a smaller degree to do with the surface area of your water, but that’s probably fairly comparable). It’s probably okay as a guideline, though. If you have a cooking thermometer you can measure your water with that.

drank Ginger by Yogi Tea

Backlog. Got this sample from my MIL.

This was very strong ginger tea. To be fair I brewed it really strong (10 min) but it was too spicy for me. And I think it could use some different flavors added in. I am not a plain ginger fan. If you like plain ginger then this would be a great tea for you!

Backlog. This is another sample from carol who, thanks carol!

This is not my cup of tea. This was my first chocolate tea, and I didn’t really know what to expect. I love hot chocolate but I am guessing chocolate tea is not like hot chocolate. I found it a little weak but that may be my fault. I saw on the directions that it was supposed to brew at a temp lower than boiling and my pot doesn’t tell me temps so I took some out to cool it down. I measured it with 2 thermometers and they both said 160 ish so I thought that I better put it on the tea before it cooled down more, but now I am thinking it may not have been hot enough to draw the flavor out?
Unfortunately I can’t try again and see if it can be better because I had an allergic reaction to something in the tea. I checked with the company twice and they said there was no soy in this (which I know I am allergic to) so now I have to figure out what else I am allergic to :(
So anyways I am not going to rate this tea because I really don’t know if it is good or not. It dies smell like dark chocolate.

Got this as a sample from Carol Who, thanks carol!
This tea is yummy! I brewed 2t for 5 min with 8 oz boiling water. (I am not usually that specific with my brewing, but I figured I should follow the directions as best as possible when trying samples :) ). I mixed in coconut milk (I don’t do milk) and honey. And then I waited for it to cool down enough for me to drink it. The first few sips were good but a little weak. As it has cooled down the flavors have come out more and made it taste stronger. Right now this tea is quite tasty. I taste the yummy cinnamon and spices and to me they mix wonderfully with the coconut and honey flavors. I also saved the leaves to try a second steeping, I’ll let you know if it is good :)

Part of the traditional medicinals sampler. This one was ok. I didn’t notice any change in my cold symptoms (although yes I know echinacea doesn’t work that fast, but I have had several colds in the last 3 weeks so I don’t think it worked) I was no super impressed by this sampler, will probably keep looking, if I don’t find something better I may come back to this or I may just take the pills.

My favorite cold/allergy tea is Gypsy Cold Care by Traditional Medicinals. Get Wellness No. 11 by Republic of Tea seems to help prevent a little in preventing the cold. But ya know, sometimes it’s all in my head! :-)

RandomlyFascinated

:) I will have to try that :). I figure if the tea is not awesome then I can just drink another tea that is more awesome and take echinacea pills :)

carol who

You are right! I would probably go with the vitamins/herbs/pill thing, too. I drank it because it was easily available and it was generally soothing to me. Now I would add some of my favored Stevia drops; that makes everything better :-p

Got the traditional medicinal cold sampler box. I drank this a couple days ago. It is pretty good, it has that sneaky sweetness from licorice root. I tried it brewed with a couple different teas to see what I like. I liked it brewed with tazo vanilla rooibos, it was very good. Just FYI not so good premed with tazo passion, drinkable but the flavors do not meld at all. Anyways this is a decent tea, but I didn’t notice any specific throat benefits from it so I prolly won’t buy again, I think I’ll try some different brands.

I’ve used this in the past. Apparently I have been pretty healthy lately because I haven’t had to use it for awhile. I guess all those years teaching and being surrounded by little kids may have given me a bit of immunity. :-D

I thought I got immunity from teaching but my immune system tanked a few years ago. I have been working on building it up but it is a slow process.

I tried this the other day. I first made it for my husband (who doesn’t like tea, but was willing to try it medicinally) and he said it was gross. Well I didn’t believe him because he thinks all tea is gross so I made a cup for myself later, I think I brewed it with throat coat, and I found it bitter, I know it was this and not the throat coat because I had had that one earlier and it was fine. Did I brew it wrong or something? I don’t know, I followed the brew time directions. Anyways, I probably won’t drink it again unless someone can tell me what I did wrong. Even lemon infused honey couldn’t cut the bitterness.

carol who

I’ve usually had good luck with this one.

RandomlyFascinated

Hmm, how do you brew it?

carol who

I mostly made this before I got into tea very much. So I probably did it – gasp! – 2 min. microwave and 3-4 min. steep. I can’t be completely sure. I sweetened it with honey, that I remember!

This was another sample from my MIL, it is one of her favorites. It was ok, not strong enough for my taste. It had a good flavor, just not enough of it. I think I will stick with tazo passion over this. But if you don’t like the strength of tazo passion then you should definitely try this one!

This was a good berry tea. I liked it iced, I use frozen fruit in place of ice to add flavor and not water it down. Unfortunately can’t have it anymore because of a soy allergy, but I did like it!
