9 Tasting Notes

Kukicha from Adagio Teas

Green Rooibos Bonita from Adagio Teas

The aroma is pretty sweet. The taste is exactly what one would expect from the touted summer fruit, and quite nice if a bit dull. I think a bit of honey might make it a good deal better.

Sencha Overture from Adagio Teas
64

The aroma I like the most about this tea. Smells like a warm, rainy evening, with a high note of something sweet. The tea is a subdued green, which I don’t find anything especially noteworthy about. It’s still a great tasting tea.

Green Rooibos Key West from Adagio Teas
92

First time reviewing a rooibos, very excited.

The smell of the dry leaves was very fruity and pleasant. After brewing, the aroma is hard to place. It’s very distinct… It’s earthy, very floral. There is a very sweet smell that resembles the smell of a berry.

Upon first taste, my thought is how sweet it is. Not having added any sweeteners, I was surprised by the delicious berry taste on top of a usual green tea base. Delicious! There doesn’t seem to be much more from this tea, but it’s already one of my favorites.

Vanilla Green from Adagio Teas
74

I might have steeped this a little too hot, since my kettle doesn’t really have a temperature guide. 190F is a rough approximation. I also may have used more leaves than required, as I did not realize how compact the leaves were.

The smell is at the very surface a subdued vanilla, of course, with a stronger overtone of earthy green tea leaves. Very nice, and being a fan of vanilla I sat for ten minutes taking in the aroma.

The taste of vanilla is even more subdued than the vanilla, but it is there over the delicious standard of green tea. Not as sweet as some reviewers have noted—I only really notice a hint of sweetness in the aftertaste.

All in all, a very satisfying tea.

Jasmine Green Tea from Twinings
42

Not the best Jasmine tea I’ve had. Not very floral, a little hint of spice, but still passable for tea.

Jasmine #5 from Adagio Teas
91

Delightfully aromatic, floral scent. One of the best Jasmine teas I’ve tried yet.

Gunpowder from Adagio Teas
61

A very strong cup of tea. The gunpowder tea leaves bloom quite nicely, so I might’ve added a bit more than necessary resulting in a stronger steeping. I’ll be trying another cup soon, and I’m looking into adding a bit of peppermint like the description suggests.

Apple from Adagio Teas
87

Steeping for 3 minutes at boiling is more than enough for this tea. Not too sweet but very aromatic. I enjoy this with a spoonful of granulated cane sugar.
