Yay, more oolongs from Verdant came yesterday. Traditional tieguanyin and Big Red Robe Wuyi. The latter I don’t care much for on its own but it makes a fabulous oolong bubble tea.

Bubble tea is a taiwanese drink with gummy tapioca pearls called boba. There are a myriad of different flavors (fruity, milky teas, smoothies) and roasted oolong is one of my favorite.

BTW, I take back what I said about Big Red Robe. I had it tonight and the tea is quite good both straight and in bubble tea.

Heavily roasted wuyis are often very charcoal-y. I tried one from Teavivre and What-Cha recently and both were too roasted. Lower temperature and less leaf may help.

Good quality yancha can take boil or off boil temps and lots of leaf. At least 6g/100ml. Rinse and flash steeps in the beginning
