I was hesitant to purchase this tea because of the warnings on the back of the box… “For adults only,” “Do not drink before operating machinery,” and so on. I was expecting a brew with an overpowering aroma and a bitter taste. Instead, what I got was something very tolerable, and pleasant. The color of the tea was a little darker than that of the regular Sleepytime tea; sort of a yellowish-amber color that deepens into a slight red. The aroma is indeed very fragrant – smelling strongly of mint and chamomile. It is the kind of fragrance that fills all of your senses with cooling and rejuvenation… very comforting and soothing. When you sip the tea you get a sort of tingle on your lips and in your mouth, probably from the spearmint or lemongrass. I find this to be very delightful. I have grown quite accustomed to the taste of this tea and I like it so much that it is now a significant part of every evening in my house. This is a very unique, lovely, tasty tea (even without honey or sugar!) that I will continue to purchase.

drank The Earl Grey by Twinings

I had a cup of this tea tonight while watching Downton Abbey (I have to stay true to my English roots, you know!) and it was surprisingly delightful. I will admit it… a few years ago someone gave me a bag of Earl Grey and I quickly tossed it after taking a whif of it. I’ve since heard a lot of good things about the tea and have decided to give it a try. The scent of the teabag & tea is very ‘peppery’ or ‘licorice-y’ (from the bergamot) but once it is steeped I find the taste to be very desirable. It has a pleasant hint of citrus to it that compliments the black tea (I took mine black tonight but I’ve heard that it is popular to add milk). I’m sure that I will return to this box in the near future. It is not something I’d drink every day but I most definitely do not regret trying it.

drank English Breakfast by Twinings

This English Breakfast tea is a classic for me – I just love the taste and smell of it. This blend is especially wonderful because it is not too strong but not too mild either. It is a very comfortable & enjoyable tea and I would highly recommend it to everyone. Even if you are not an ‘avid’ tea drinker, this is a basic tea that you should have in your cupboard for a rainy day or snowy evening.

This tea would be perfect if I was a huge fan of Hibiscus. I have had this tea both iced and hot, and the Hibiscus is equally noticeable (and too prominent, in my opinion) in both. I did however enjoy the fruitiness of this tea, and perhaps I’d give it another try (steeping it about a minute less). Overall I was not impressed with this cup as it was my first experience with an herbal tea… maybe someday I will learn to enjoy it as much as I enjoy green & black teas!

drank Zen Full Leaf Tea by Tazo

I don’t know how else to describe this tea other than EXHILARATING. I allow the tea leaves to steep for quite a long time (about 5-7 minutes) because I love the strength of it. The aroma of the brew is chiefly composed of spearmint, and to me it is relaxing. I love to breathe in the vapors of my tea while it is yet too hot to drink. The first sip is a harmonious blend of spearmint and a slight note of lemongrass. As the tea gradually cools down to optimal drinking temperature, the lemongrass is more noticeable. The green tea flavors are strong throughout. Overall this is a very stimulating tea… it is mentally energizing and physically relaxing at the same time. I enjoy my Zen tea with a slight drizzle of honey.

I’ve been meaning to try the loose-leaf version of this one. I’ve had it made for me at Starbucks and I’ve had the bagged form, but I bet this is better.

It is much better loose leaf, just like most teas. I first had this it at Starbucks too and fell in love with it!

This tea is very delightful – it has a full green taste to it without too much smokiness. The ‘smoky’ part is more of a subtle aftertaste; it is not very noticeable in the brew itself. The color of the tea is a very nice green, and it tastes equally as well (if not better) with a slice of lemon placed in the cup to steep with the bag. This tea is a great pleasure to drink, and I am especially fond of the fact that it is organic. I will definitely be buying this again.

This tea comes with lemon peel already inside the tea bag, which gives the brew a delicate note. However, I find that the lemon essence is not to my liking, so to make it stronger I add a slice of lemon from my refrigerator while it is steeping. This seems to give it a lot more flavor, and it complements the green tea nicely. This tea does not at all need to be sweetened, but if you are trying it for the first time you may want to add a little honey.

This tea is hands down one of my favorites. The mint is not overpowering to the senses, and it does not have a bitter note to it like other teas. I drink it without any milk or sweeteners, but I’m sure it would be just as excellent with a touch of honey. It is the kind of tea that can be consumed at any point during the day, not just before bed! I’d highly recommend giving it a try.
