Organic Mango Black Tea

Black Fruit Blend by Arbor Teas

The fresh, tropical mango flavor of this tea reminds of happy days in the sun. Re-vamped in Fall of 2008, this blend is for those who enjoy mango, but do not want to compromise the bold, brisk flavor of the tea. Like all of our tea blends, this organic, Fair Trade Certified Mango Black Tea uses only the highest quality teas, essential oils and botanical ingredients, insuring an excellent cup every time!

Sustainability is a cornerstone of Arbor Teas’ business philosophy. In addition to offering an exclusively organic selection of teas, they recently became the first tea company to offer their whole catalog in 100% backyard compostable packaging. They’ve also carbon-offset the entire supply chain of their products, from origin to the customer, making Arbor Teas the greenest option for Earth-conscious tea drinkers, and one of few tea companies recognized by Green America.

I loved mangoes so I figured I would give this one a shot. The company’s website say this is made with brisk Chinese tea (does not say which one and I’m not sure I could hazard a guess, perhaps it’s the Keemun?)

I feel there is a quite a bit more tea in here than flavoring, the mango is a bit subdued which could be a plus or a minur depending on your point of view. I am also wondering about the calendula flowers here and whether they really add anything to the flavor. It is mango-y but also a bit strange somehow, like a burnt mango. Not too bad but not the best mango tea I’ve ever had.

bonus for compostable packaging. :)

I actually liked this a bit better today for some reason so I upped the rating – can’t remember what I did last time but steeping it here for 3 minutes seems to have done the trick. It’s medium bodied and smooth with a hint of mango, this seems nice to drink just plain. Nevertheless I just seem to be gravitating away from flavored black teas a bit.

I really love the organic teas & backyard compostable packaging and this will definitely have me going back to Arbor Teas once my supply is depleted a bit.

The taste of this tea is good, the mango essence seems real, but it is overshadowed by something else I can’t place. Maybe it’s the calendula flowers in it, as I’m not entirely sure what those taste like. (This is my first tea that included them.)

I don’t know what it is, I just can’t get into this one. I normally love mango tea.
