Hm, didn’t notice was a “white” tea when brewed it as I would a black tea. Oops.

Didn’t hurt it though. Was very fruit punchy and a deep purple-red “bloody” color. And of course any tribute to Jaws gets bonus brownie points on its own merit.

May be good iced, not sure. Reminds me a little of Harney and Sons Ice Tea Indigo type. The hibiscus is not overwhelming so, while there is a touch of sour buried below these waters, its’ not overwhelming.

This isn’t a tea I’d drink daily or anything but it’s nice for those moments.

Advent day 5! I’m catching up on some reviews that I’ve fallen behind on. I didn’t realize this was a white tea (my bad), and stepped it a bit hotter and a bit longer than I generally would a white tea, but it actually came out wonderfully! It has a really distinct strawberry/raspberry compote flavor. It really tastes like a warm berry jam. The hibiscus isn’t too overwhelming. I really loved this one, and I’d actually repurchase it!

Day 5 Advent. Damn you, hibiscus!!!! It’s not full of hibiscus, but it’s enough for me to think “blech!!”. The hib bite was too much when it was hot, but now that it’s cooled things are a little more tolerable. I am amused at the naming of a hibiscus tea “Jams” in honor of “Jaws”. It’s perfect because it steeps up like blood in the water. I’m trying hard to taste past the hibiscus, but it’s so dominating that I can’t. It has this weird metallic tang, like blood (now that I have blood in mind with this tea) and a sour finish. This just reaffirms my hibby hate.

Why is hibiscus in almost everything herbal or fruity tea? It is becoming a bane of my existence too

I suspect that it’s because it can be used to round out the flavor of fruit and give it that tart tang that brings fruit flavors to life. The problem is most blenders use it far to liberally when IMO it should be used in moderation. Stacy knew how to use it subtly in her Butiki blends where you couldn’t even perceive it as hibiscus. She was brilliant with tea.
